2022 NFL Week 9 Ratings Report

Before I forget to do it again, the TV ratings from Sports Media Watch:

  • Thursday Night (Amazon, Eagles-Texans):  Against Game 5 of the World Series, 3.7 rating, 7.86 million viewers, basically matching season lows for Amazon.
  • Sunday Single (FOX):  8.05 rating, 15.5 million viewers, up about 10%
  • Sunday Regional (CBS):  7.4 ratings, 13.88 million, and that was well down from last year as well.
  • Sunday National (CBS, Rams-Buccaneers):  Shine is coming off both these teams.  Worst single-network National window of the year:  10.6 rating, 20.25 million viewers, about 16% down in ratings and 18% down in viewers from a Packers-Chiefs Week 9 National last year.
  • Sunday Night (NBC, Titans-Chiefs):  The good matchup scored for NBC, 9.7 rating and 17.69 million viewers, 20%+ up from last year.
  • Monday Night (ESPN/2:  Ravens-Saints):  Not so much.  Worst regular MNF game of the year:  5.8 rating, 10.53 million viewers.
  • Though the NFL is down a small fraction (about 200,000 viewers a window) for the entire season, it appears FOX is taking the brunt of it:  ESPN is at the best 9-week average in 12 years and CBS in 7.
