November 2, 2022 News and Notes

  • Ime Udoka appears headed for Brooklyn to be their new coach.
  • It's up to eight Michigan State players suspended for the locker room jumping of at least two Michigan players after their game.
  • Britt Reid will do 3 years in prison for mauling that little girl Super Bowl week.
  • Jeff Plush, fired from his commissionership of the NWSL for lack of action on rampant abuse of players, is now also fired from the head of US Curling.
  • Tennessee is the #1 team in the country in the first CFP poll.  Tennessee's game with Georgia this weekend is a 1 vs. 3 in that polling.  Ohio State is #2.
  • A tampering investigation has cost the Philadelphia 76ers their second-round draft pick in the next two NBA Drafts.
  • Speaking of the NBA, an interesting phenomenon in the first 8 or so games of the new season:  Half the teams in the league are now averaging over 115 points a game.
  • One of the reasons why is a major change in the rules.  It used to be that a defensive player would commit an intentional "take foul" to stop a fast break.  As of the 2022-23 season, that has been upgraded to a one-shot and the ball situation.  It's not a full flagrant, but it's another one of those that could be if you actually applied the definition of a Flagrant 1 (unnecessary, excessive being the criteria for ejection for a F2).
  • The latest WWE Saudi blood show is this Saturday -- that's if further indications are not given as to a regional conflict between the House of Saud and Iran.
  • Head coach Deion Sanders has told his Jackson State team that the city of Houston is not safe -- so the team will not be permitted to leave their hotel during the trip there to play Houston next week.
  • This is in response to the dice-game murder of Migos rapper Takeoff, at the age of 28, in the city.
  • And here we go again...  A racehorse was put down after a race yesterday at Los Alamitos racetrack in California -- the second such fatality in four days.
  • The long national nightmare in Washington may finally be over -- Bank of America has actually been retained as a consulting arm of a possible sale of the Commanders.  What?  Are we actually going to see a "Hell Freezes Over" moment in sports?
  • Of course, this comes on the same day "sources" tell the media that the Federal government is investigating the finances of the team.
  • The University of Kansas has banned head basketball coach Bill Self and an assistant for four games due to a 2017 series of recruiting violations in the continuing FBI investigation into the realities of college basketball.
  • Talk in the realm of the record-tying five home runs the Phillies hit last night indicates many believe Houston starter Lance McCullers Jr. was tipping his pitches.  What?  Are we actually going to see another "Hell Freezes Over" moment in sports??
  • You mean to tell me we actually have to discuss people cheating in The Ocho sport of professional Cornhole?  Smaller bags below regulation, etc.
  • May have to prepare to downgrade the Cowboys again, or move them out of the Politicals.  Jerry Jones cannot leave well the fuck enough alone.  His Halloween costume?  A blind NFL referee!!  It is expected Jones will be fined.
