November 17, 2022 News and Notes

  • Took over a week, but it does look like the slim majority for the Republicans will carry out in the House of Representatives.  Question is:  How slim?
  • And it does appear that McCarthy, with the Trumpists' blessings, will be Speaker.  Meaning nothing can be taken seriously...
  • Andrew He is one win from winning the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions.  A rather even Game 3 was decided by a conservative wager on He's part.
  • According to analyst Andy Saunders, there apparently is some controversy in the Final Jeopardy tonight.
"Paul's letter to them is the New Testament epistle with the most Old Testament quotations."

The correct question was "What are the Hebrews?"

According to Wikipedia, the epistle to the Hebrews is attributed to Paul widely, but many scholars do not believe he wrote it.

Hoo boy.
  • Pete Rose will remain on the banned list, per Rob Manfred.  Then take his records too, Manfred.  If you're that set on "If you bet on baseball, you belong on the Permanently Disqualified List.", then take his records too and render them invalid.
  • There must really be some snow in the forecast.  Buffalo has had some humdinger snowstorms.  But it has been announced today that there's so much snow in the forecast for Buffalo that the Bills-Browns game Sunday is going to be played in Detroit instead!
  • Which means two consecutive Bills games in Detroit -- they play the Lions next week.
  • It appears the cash-in for the Judge 62 ball is going to be a full lottery ticket.  The ball will go to auction, and a $3,000,000 offer for the ball was declined.  And you wonder why someone leapt into the chasm between the seats and the fence at that point!
  • Ndamokung Suh is back with the NFL -- the Eagles need line help.
  • An additional lawsuit by the DC Attorney General alleging the Washington Commanders are siphoning off season-ticket money for other purposes.
  • Ticketmaster is going to have to figure out what to do before it can allow a public onsale for Taylor Swift's new tour.  They scheduled it for tomorrow and the website and app can't take the obscene demand!
  • There has been significant further overturn on Twitter.  The offices are closed til Monday, all keycards have been revoked, hundreds have quit at Elon's further demands -- and there now does appear, at least rank and file user level, that the end of the entire platform may be nigh!  Making one wonder, especially with Musk's comment on how to make a small fortune in social media:  "Begin with a large one.", whether this MIGHT have actually been Musk's plan!
  • And now a report that there have been bribes taken by certain now-fired Facebook employees to hijack some user accounts!
