Another large-scale headache for the PGA???

Good grief, and this is only JANUARY...

Add Robert Allenby to the list of names to watch over the next few weeks.

Allenby missed the cut at last week's Sony Open in Hawaii, so he decided to go to a wine bar with his caddie and have a few drinks.

The next thing he knows, he is approached, kidnapped, conked in the head, put in the trunk of his car, and dumped several miles away.

That's a bad enough black eye for the likes of the PGA Tour, who is still smarting from last year's Dustin Johnson fiasco.

Now, Deadspin is getting the word that there might be a different side to this story.

First, a homeless woman claimed to have been the Good Samaritan (and paid $1000 by Allenby for her heroism) in getting Allenby out of the situation denies that degree of involvement -- that, in fact, Allenby was in an argument with a couple of homeless men just down the street from the bar and got his ass kicked.

Now, one of THOSE men denies THAT story, saying that Allenby was already drunk and passed out and had to be roused before the street-sweepers (or the cops) took him up.

Needless to say, another January day, another fucked-up story still developing in the increasing madhouse of the American sports machine.
