September 8, 2022 News and Notes

  • Could be a cessation of most everything in the British Commonwealth really soon:  Queen Elizabeth II, the world-record longest serving monarch, is gravely ill at age 96 at her Balmoral residence in Scotland this morning.  Her family is rushing to the location.
  • A relaxed picture of the Queen at Balmoral was taken but two days ago.
  • And the word has just come in:  London Bridge Has Fallen.  Queen Elizabeth II, the world-record longest-reigning monarch in history, has died at age 96.
  • For the reference:  "London Bridge Has Fallen" is the four-word key phrase to activate media and governmental plans and changes for the death of the British Monarch.
  • The British Commonwealth enters a 10-day period of mourning, after which a state funeral will be held for Elizabeth, once King Charles III -- who succeeds immediately -- signs off on the details.  Afterward, some point down the road, an official coronation of Charles as King will follow.
  • No word yet, as of this morning, as to the AEW fates of CM Punk and Ace Steele.
  • Citing Republican policies against COVID safety and LGBTQs in the state of Florida, the Games Done Quick multimillion-dollar January charity event will be online-only again next year and throwing themselves out of the state of Florida.
  • A show of force for the AFC favorites as they took the Super Bowl Championship Party and blew it out of it's own stadium.  A 10-10 halftime tie is now 31-10 with six minutes to play and the Bills are driving for more...  I don't know how much this changes, really...  It might take San Francisco and Arizona up a tick in the NFC West, if you are so inclined, but the real devil is on the other side of the continent in that regard.  And, as for Buffalo:  They are seen as the "shoot" AFC favorites.  I might not have expected something like THIS, but...
  • Would really love to see the ratings on this one, as that was one of the meekest fourth quarters in recent NFL memory for a major NFL broadcast.  31-10 was the final, Bills cover easily, the game goes under 52.
