NFL Week Two SUSPENSION Blotter

A huge fight broke out as Tom Brady got involved with the New Orleans Saints -- doesn't it seem like Tampa and New Orleans get into some of the bigger kerfluffles in the league when they meet?

Well, we have Supplemental Discipline for the first time this season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers:  Mike Evans suspended for the Packer game next week for blindside cheap shotting a New Orleans player in the pile.

This is, in fact, the THIRD such incident Evans has been sanctioned for in a confrontation with New Orleans' Marshon Lattimore.  A 2017 fight cost him a game, a 2020 confrontation cost him about $10,000.

It is quite probable that the league took those two actions into consideration -- he can appeal, but I expect it will fail because this is the third such incident between the two in five years in which Evans has committed a major foul.

This will cost him $764,705 of salary.  It will apply a $50,000 penalty toward accumulative fines (if the policy still exists -- the NFL hasn't published the relevant number in years!!!).

It is the first suspension for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.

Especially because this was the third such incident, I'm not sure I wouldn't have set the beginning level at at least two games and then reduced it to one on appeal.

The two teams meet again in Tampa Bay Week 13, December 5th, Monday Night Football...

ETA:  Another one, and this one could also shake things up...

Kansas City Chiefs:  Willie Gay, four games for a personal conduct violation from a January misdemeanor property damage event.

Will cost him about $250,000.  Since it's off the field, it doesn't count against any accumulated fine situation.

Also the first suspension against Kansas City this year.

Gee, if Buffalo loses tonight, could this open the door a crack for another year of complete chaos???

And ANOTHER Supplemental on Tuesday from the Monday Night games:

Buffalo Bills:  Bobby Hart sits a game for throwing a punch in a post-game incident and hitting a Tennessee Titans coach.  The coach was not the target of the swing.
