September 6, 2022 News and Notes

  • Nick Kyrgios plays his first US Open quarterfinal tonight, and the bracket is opening up for him.
  • He defeated #1 Medvedev, and American Francis Tiafoe stunned #2 Nadal last night.
  • Russian Khachanov has won the first set against Kyrgios.  Last report has Kyrgios up a break in the 2nd.
  • And he ousts him in five sets -- the Russian winning 6-4 in the 5th.
  • There is now some word that the expectation exists in the AEW locker room that Tony Khan has no choice but to fire his World Champion, CM Punk.  Each report on this is getting worse than the last one.  Dynamite is tomorrow night at 8 Eastern in Buffalo.
  • Bobby Fish of the Undisputed Era has challenged Punk to a shoot (real) fight.
  • Dave Meltzer has advertised he believes this was real.  If so, Punk and Steele must be fired.  The EVP's are trickier, because Punk all but flipped the glass and challenged the bar, as it were.
  • Fantasy Booking:  The AEW World Championship has a tournament, culminating the week before the November PPV on the 19th in Newark, Full Gear.  The winner of the tournament faces The Devil Joker MJF, as the prize for his receiving the Poker Chip in the Casino Ladder Match.
  • There has apparently been no announcement tonight.  Speculation is all over the map, but we'll head to Wednesday with everything still unknown.
  • Aaron Judge has hit his 54th home run of the year last night.  Tonight's game was postponed and made into a classic doubleheader tomorrow.
  • It now appears Britt Reid will, in fact, plead guilty in his trial to avoid too much collision with his father's NFL aspirations.  If there's two guys not named Daniel Snyder who need to be out of the league because of all the bullshit around them:  Andy Reid and Jerry Jones.
