And if you want to see the benefits of the NFL's open-faced manipulation to put and keep butt in seat, I present to you the following numbers from NFL's week 3 television broadcasts:
Amazon Thursday Night (Steelers-Browns): 11 million viewers, about 10 million on Amazon. About 2 million down from the week before, but the Chiefs can be somewhat of a draw.
Monday Night Triplecast: Is this one of the reasons ABC shuffled Dancing With the Stars to a Disney+ exclusive this year? (Along with running out of "stars" people want to see...)
Anyhoo, the third, and I believe final for a good part of the season, triplecast (ESPN and ABC regular, 2 had the Manningcast) scored a 10.7 rating and 19.34 million viewers. Highest Week 3 since 2000 -- two out of the three MNF games have gotten that level. (Makes you wonder if the network has plans going forward to make this arrangement pseudo-permanent, see comment above.)
FOX National (Packers-Bucs): Decade highs. Highest Week 3 since 2012 and a 15% jump year over year on ratings and viewers with a 13.4 rating and 26.4 million viewers. Second highest of the year behind last week's National.
Sunday Night (49ers-Broncos): In evidence that shit football and a bad matchup doesn't benefit the league, ESPN/ABC actually outdrew NBC's 9.6 rating and 17.8 million viewers, double-digit losses in both. Worst Week 3 since 2017.
FOX Single: 7.2 rating, 13.8 million (up 7-8%).
CBS Single (largely Chiefs-Colts and Bills-Dolphins): 7.7 rating, 14.7 million viewers (down about 3% with two marquee matchups, better than anything FOX had in the early window!).
