September 27, 2022 News and Notes

  • Hurricane Ian is already wreaking havoc.  The Tom Bradys have to go practice in Miami this week.  There is some concern the game in Tampa Bay can be played there this week -- it's the Sunday nighter, but Tampa looks to be nearly taking a direct hit from Ian as things currently stand.
  • AEW head Tony Khan, knowing a number of the roster have base in that part of Florida, has said Dynamite is optional this week if you need to take care of business at home.  Bad for some of the fans, yes -- but wrestling has a way of getting up from a back-against-the-wall scenario.
  • Tuesday morning, South Florida and South Carolina have both announced changes to their college football games this weekend due to the hurricane.
  • Texas Tech has been fined $50,000 for the field storming after the win over Texas.  Here's a hint:  "They won't keep them off the field tonight!" is not just a meme.  One major forfeiture to reverse a big win, and this process WILL STOP.  But nothing else will, including the possible injury to a Texas player decked by a Tech fan in the storming.
  • Are we going to see the teams preventing Aaron Judge from getting #61?  First and second in the 10th, tied 2-2 with Toronto -- and they just intentionally walk him to load the bases.  Worked, too:  Toronto won 3-2 in 10!
  • One of the juiciest stories in sports and games is the Magnus Carlsen/Hans Niemann cheating feud, where the former is giving up his FIDE world championship anyway -- but everything from sexual beads up the ass to leg and toe stimulators, where Niemann has access to a chess computer to throw Carlsen off his game, are being alleged.  One chess website, where Niemann HAS cheated, has banned him.  Hoo boy.
  • Matt Ammendola has been fired as kicker of the Chiefs due to missing a field goal and an extra point in a rigged loss to the Colts.  Then fire the guy who got the taunting penalty to extend the touchdown drive as well...  Nah...  He's too convenient to the team -- kickers are a dime a dozen...  Sure...
