2023 NFL Week Three Score Report

Back to more mundane, like Week 1, with about two exceptions -- one here, one in the Politicals.
  • 44.125 points per game for the week -- and that's WITH the 90!
    • 44.96 is the average per game for the first 48 games.
    • The 70 points the Dolphins got has only been met four times, last in 1966.
      • NFL record is the 73-0 that Chicago put on Washington in the 1940 NFL Championship.
  • Home teams staged a comeback.  10-6 for the week.
    • Still 23-25 for the year.
  • Back to what was in Week 1 for the Vegas totals.  4-11-1 for the Over.
    • 21-26-1 for the season.
  • Favorites were 9-5-1 against the number.
    • 20-23-3 so far.
  • Favorites 10-5 straight up.
    • 28-18 for the year.
  • Team with more penalties was 7-8.
    • 24-18 for the year.
  • 208 penalties for the week (13 per game exactly).
    • 607 total for the season so far.  (12.25)
  • Biggest stat of the week:  Not sure if it's the record at least since I started, but seven of the 16 games were non-competitive -- never within one score in the 4th quarter.
    • Season total is now 15.
  • And also only six of the 16 games were within one score.
    • 26 for the season.
  • Five of the six were Last Chance Misses
    • 12 for the season.
  • And...  then there's Baltimore-Indianapolis for the sole Cliffhanger of the week for 7 for the year.  I think for the second time in the history of me running this, it's a five-bagger.
    • IND FG to tie at :57.
    • Justin Tucker hits the crossbar short at :01 from 61 yards
    • Then both teams miss at about the 45, needing the FG to win.
    • Baltimore includes a rigged intentional DPI grab no-call to give Indy the ball back
    • For which Indy gets the winning FG about 1 minute left in OT.
