- Well, it's one thing that Max Scherzer is a New York Met now.
- But, remember, in less than 36 hours, a strike or a lockout starts. And I can't think Major League Baseball is going to get out the other side as you know it.
- Lee Elder has passed away -- the first African-American golfer to play the Masters. He was 87.
- Might have an answer on the Cowboys, maybe: COVID outbreak on the coaching staff. Only one player has tested positive, but FIVE coaches, including, now, head coach Mike McCarthy, have.
- Think the Oklahoma coach and players got the message from Saturday night? Sunday, coach Lincoln Riley leaves for USC. Since, at least 5-6 players or recruits have left the program as well!
- SO WHAT SAY YOU ON THIS, MANFRED??? The Mets and Rangers have raided the Dodgers to the tune of half a billion dollars!! $130M for 4 years to Scherzer to the Mets -- $325M or so for the Rangers to Seager. Which raises one further question: How long until the Rangers hand Seager to one of Manfred's Super Six for pennies on the Benjamin? (Can't claim credit for that myself -- my anonymous baseball-historian friend had that theory first...)
- And same anonymous friend points out the Rangers just gave Marcus Semien $175M over a bunch of years... But this is fine, Manfred. It's NOT LA!!! GFY!
- And it appears we have our first on-field NFL suspension of the year: For going all "I'mma punch you in the face" on anyone other than Richard Sherman -- namely, Las Vegas' John Simpson after the game on Thursday, Trysten Hill will sit two games. And THAT pretty much does it for Dallas. Part of the whole condition that Dallas was going to get pushed was to keep their players on the field and out of trouble. Methinks that is now by the boards...
- And now let the exodus go from Notre Dame -- Brian Kelly is going to LSU!
- We just had an NFL rarity -- blocked conversion kick goes all the way back for TWO. IIRC, I think there was a game won by a conversion turnover sent back too, but if not, that might be NFL history there! If it isn't, there's only been about 2 or 3.
- I'm wrong -- according to this video, not counting one in the preseason, that is either the 9th or 10th such conversion since the rule was instituted in 2015. The video does have what I recalled, that a game was won on a conversion return.
- Amy Schneider's reign as a dominant Jeopardy! champion continues. Another lockout win gets her $47,000 -- and a 9-day total of $342,200, an average of $38,022. She is already 9th on the all-time regular-season winnings list, and second among women.
The truth is not what actually happened. It's what you can ENFORCE happened. It's ALL enforcement.
