- Another investigation in the NBA: Portland President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey has been placed under investigation by the team after an independent panel found credible allegations of bullying and intimidation of non-player personnel around the practice facility. When. Are. People. Going. To. Learn....
- Mayim Bialik finally (and thankfully) did her last show of a guest run as Jeopardy! host. Hopefully-permanent host Ken Jennings takes over on Monday.
- Henry Ruggs III now faces DUI charges in injuries to his girlfriend, as well as gun charges. Murder. Two. NOW, for killing the other driver. Seriously!! This is the only thing which is gonna start sending a message to drunk drivers across this goddamned nation.
- And that's not the only problem the Raiders have -- TMZ has uncovered a lawsuit against 2020 first-round cornerback Damon Arnette for $92,000 in injury damages by a woman who was hit head on last year by Arnette's car.
- The mayor of New York has correctly told Kyrie Irving to pound sand on HIS anti-vaxx stupidity.
- Marking this one down for later reference: Blatant DPI no-call may save Ohio State -- up only 23-17 at Nebraska, 3rd and 10 for Nebraska inside their own 40 -- blatant trip-out DPI no-called with 5:23 to go forces a punt and Nebraska may not meaningfully see the ball again.
- Ohio State gets field goal, Nebraska loses 26-17.
- Michigan State bows out to Purdue...
- And then you get a double-throwing of the game in Cincinnati, in front of the ESPN GameDay cameras... After stopping Tulsa inside the 2 up 8, the Cincinnati QB fumbles the ball (it looked intentional too!) to give Tulsa the ball inside the 5 with a minute to go. The egregious plays of the sequence were third and fourth down -- third down, the Tulsa QB clearly had a lane to the end zone and looked like he took a knee when he slid. Fourth down, the RB clearly runs into the stuff, and then tries to fumble it forward into the end zone, where Cincinnati recovers to save their perfect season. Really...
- Three of the four Championship Four racers tomorrow in Phoenix failed inspection twice, and will lose their track position and a crew member for tomorrow's race. The advantage now lies with Chase Elliott, the only legal car of the four. A third failed inspection would've doubled the penalty to back of the pack and a pass-through -- all three made the third inspection.
And now I need to separate this one:
- It's bad enough, the news we all got this morning from the Astroworld concert event in Houston. Eight people were killed and over 300 injured in a massive crush event which happens periodically (remember The Who in Cincinnati???) at these events.
- But that's not the worst of it. There is now a confirmed report from TMZ, citing a security guard from the event (now confirmed by the police chief), stating that someone got near the front of the crowd and began injecting them with a needle. The security guard reports he was pricked in the neck, and then quickly went limp. He did survive, but there is now belief that not only was the crush a result of a panic due to a probable attack, but that the attack was probably TARGETED!
