Day 654 -- Christmas Eve, 2021

  • The last one more than a few of us are probably going to see...
  • New York City is already in the process of scaling back the New Year's Ball Drop celebrations because COVID is running rampant in the city.  New cases up 35% day to day yesterday.
  • At least one former women's college basketball coach believes ESPN has a blatant bias toward UConn.  ESPN???  Bias??!?!?!???  NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
  • Knott's Berry Farm in Southern California has had to close and cancel it's remaining holiday schedule -- COVID and the weather.  The drought may finally be breaking in the state.
  • You know it's Christmas Eve and there are no American sports when it's 6:30 AM and you're watching, effectively, Indian professional tag.  (Kabaddi is far more than that, but that's a layman's explanation.)
  • Ah, the madness which is Toru Yano.  The last two years, they have had the KoPW (King of Pro Wrestling) Championship, ostensibly as a vehicle for Toru Yano to have his own brand of twisted comedy fun in the middle of a New Japan Pro Wrestling card.  He has finished this year, as last, as the non-provisional, now, King of Pro Wrestling for the year.  The final match, on the final card before the Wrestle Kingdom series in about a week and a half, was against Yoshinibu Kanemaru in a "End of Year Party Match" -- KoPW is contested under stipulations given by the wrestlers and voted on between the two by the fans.  The match was basically a regular pro wrestling match, but each wrestler had to take a shot of whiskey every two minutes until someone was pinned, submitted, passed out, or threw up.
  • DeShazor Everett, a reserve/extra safety for the Washington Football Team, had a rollover accident in suburban Washington today.  He survived, a passenger was killed in the accident.
  • As of right now, even though there are a significant number of positives in the NFL right now, the NFL has no plans to move any games this week.
  • It looks as if the second game tomorrow in the NBA may be in some danger -- 8 Celtics are in the protocols.
  • The LA/Brooklyn game at Singapore Fraud Arena is still an apparent go as well.
  • A third EPL Boxing Day match is off due to COVID.
  • Of the ten matches in the Championship for Boxing Day, six are cancelled already.
  • Same drill in League One.
