Day 640

  • DeMaryius Thomas' death is apparently a medical issue.  We are still early in the process, but it does appear it is medical.  33, and in this day and age?  I'm guessing some degree of COVID-related situation or an undiagnosed long-time heart ailment.
  • Later reports indicate a seizure -- probably meaning CTE...
  • It appears Jeff Hardy's demons have consumed him again.  Hardy was sent home from the road for sluggish behavior in the ring by WWE this past weekend.  Today, they fired him.  And given that the report of the firing indicates he was offered rehab and refused, it does appear this is bad.  Very bad.  I could make the case here for why The Usos are still employed, given a number of their demons, but the revelation Jeff has refused rehab is...  troubling.  Best case scenario:  He actually is manipulating the firing so he can go to AEW.  (Given the present state of WWE and the like, it can not 100% be ruled out.)  Worst case....
  • Four-time Indy 500 champion Al Unser Sr. passed away last night.  He was 82.
  • Police investigating the arson of the FOX News Christmas Tree questioned William Martin Joel about the arson.  They concluded he was not involved.
  • Less than a month after the retirement of the two remaining living Monkees (their final show on their 2021 Farewell Tour was November 14th), Michael Nesmith passed away today.
  • Mickey Dolenz is now the only remaining surviving member of the band.
  • Jeopardy! Executive Producer Michael Davies has announced the current split-hosting by Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will now continue until the end of the 2022-23 season.
  • The ultrachampionship reign of Amy Schneider is in a two-week break:  The first ever College Professors' Tournament ends it's quarterfinal round tonight.
