Day 641

  • In an article I'm shocked ESPN published, by an author on the subject which I am surprised ESPN ever wants to hear from again:  Mark Fainaru-Wada, one of the authors of the steroid takedown of Barry Bonds, Game of Shadows, has, with empirical evidence, produced that the steroids Bonds was taking for the latter portion of his career actually were projected to be worth OVER TWO HUNDRED HOME RUNS.  Instead of 762, the piece, made for Bonds' final year on the regular writers Hall of Fame ballot, established he would've only hit, without the steroids, 551.
  • He also asserts Roger Clemens got 56 more wins (he'd have been stopped just short of 300), 700 more innings, etc.
  • There is no non-steroid member of the 500 home run club who is either not already in the Hall, in his five-year waiting period, or, in two cases, still playing (Pujols, who needs 17 to get to A-Roid and 21 to get to 700 -- and Miguel Cabrera who just got to 502 this season).
  • Two other roidies, Ortiz and A-Roid, join the ballot this year.
  • Andre Ingram, a bit player for the Lakers in past years, won over $30,000 as a civilian on last night's Wheel of Fortune.  He still plays where he has toiled most of his professional career, the G-League, where he holds the record for most 3-pointers in the history of the league.
  • New York City Football Club has won the 2021 MLS Cup in penalties over the Portland Timbers after a 1-1 120 minute draw.
  • The match was marred when New York City FC's Valentin Castellanos scored NYCFC's goal in the 41st minute and a water bottle, aimed at him from the crowd, struck and felled Jesus Medina in the celebration just feet away.  That shit has to stop.  It's become an epidemic of that garbage.
  • Felipe Mora scored an equalizer at the end of the regular time stoppage-time of the match to force the extra time, and eventually penalties.
  • Navy has stunned Army 17-13 to win the annual military showdown.
  • The CNN debacle continues -- days after firing Chris Cuomo, a senior producer has been arrested in a child-rape and grooming scheme, kids as young as NINE.
  • Bryce Young is the winner of the 2021 Heisman Trophy.  Being the Alabama quarterback has it's privileges.
  • The top platform diver in the USA, Jordan Windle -- suspended indefinitely for abuse by SafeSport.  He's also been banned from the University of Texas.
  • There is a combination COVID and flu outbreak on the Detroit Lions which could delay tomorrow's game against Denver.
  • Dominant women's UFC champion Amanda Nunes was choked out for her championship tonight by Julianna Pena.  It sent the entire arena, including the commentators' desk, into hysterics.
  • Nunes' first loss in over seven years.
  • I said earlier I felt the Formula 1 championship, tomorrow morning (our time) in Abu Dhabi would be decided by one of Louis Hamilton and Max Verstappen would be decided by one putting the other into the wall.
  • Both drivers were officially warned this weekend that any such illegality would decide the world championship for them.
  • Verstappen won the pole, Hamilton is second on the grid.
