Day 648

  • NBC Sports Network's early game today, Aston Villa vs. Burnley...  Called due to COVID.
  • Only one of six matches scheduled today will be played in the EPL.  Half of the ten-match Championship schedule for the second tier has also been postponed.
  • About half of the third tier and a third of the fourth tier are playing today, at least as of 7 AM Pacific.
  • Sources indicate the Jaguars will not pay out the remainder of Urban Meyer's contract.
  • The Ohio Department of Education has officially declared Bishop Sycamore a scam school.
  • The problem is, they can't do anything about it.  THEN WHY DID YOU SAY ANYTHING??
  • And now we might see the drop scenario for the NBA:  The Nets now have Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in the protocols, making nine now in the protocols.
  • Several college basketball games were called off today:
  1. Tennessee opted to hold an intrasquad scrimmage after calling off with Memphis due to Memphis players in protocols.
  2. Rutgers vs. Rider
  3. Northeastern vs. Vermont
  4. Temple vs. Drexel
  5. Syracuse vs. Lehigh today
  6. Syracuse vs. Cornell Tuesday
  7. Colorado State vs. Tulsa today
  8. Colorado State vs. Alabama Tuesday
  • Appalachian State is playing Western Kentucky in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl.  There's no D in that sentence, nor in the game.  45-31 in the third.  Bailey Zappe is the quarterback for Western Kentucky, and his five touchdown passes so far have given him an NCAA-record SIXTY-ONE for the season.
  • In a test tournament for next year's FIFA World Cup, Algeria won a 23-nation Arab Cup tournament with a testy 1-0 victory over neighbor Tunisia to win the FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar.  The tournament final was held one year to the precise second of the kickoff of (should it take place) the Final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
  • The Nashville Predators and Boston Bruins are cancelled through Christmas due to COVID.  We're shutting down again, folks.  It's only, really, a question of when...
  • As, apparently, have the Canucks, Panthers, and Flames.
  • The Maple Leafs and Canucks are cancelled tonight.
  • As have four other games.  Half of the 10-game schedule for tonight is off.
  • Half of tomorrow's 8-game NHL schedule has been shitcanned.
  • The Puerto Rican baseball league is off until at least Tuesday.
  • If you want the idiocy of the American school student, try this gem from MSN today:  At the beginning of the term, a music professor in Tennessee hid a $50 bill in an unattended music school locker.  He noted the locker and it's combination -- he then surreptitiously placed both the locker number and combination in a course syllabus, daring someone to read it, claim the cash, and put their name on a pad of paper to show someone had.  No one claimed the cash!!!
