Throw the Clippers out of the NBA

Said the same thing on the Kevin McHale situation in Minnesota a lot of years back, and I think that might pale to this.

The repeated salary-cap transgressions of the Clippers mean:

• Owner Steve Ballmer and President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker are banned from the league for at least one year.
• President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank for at least six months. 
• The team is fined $30,000,000
• And they lose their next five first-round picks.
• Leonard is fined $700,000.

Throw em out.  Go one team fewer, all non-involved players become immediate free agents.

Bad Faith Actors Get Nothing

An AP source indicates the two former NBA players who are trying to get every transgender person killed by farcically entering the WNBA will not be permitted to do so.

Transition and you can be in, assholes.

But you're bad faith actors, as your continuing incidents are indicating.

I will be more than blunt here:  I'm beginning to wonder if there's a longer play here, straight out of the Heritage Foundation.

It is no secret that these bigots want every transgender person dead.  On top of that, though, I think they have very little want for the women who are actually in the sport today (which see Kanter Bitch's incident last night, for which he might well get the same NBA/WNBA ban that some of the sex toy-throwing morons have gotten).

It is also no secret that many of the men in control of things in entertainment do not see a non-sexual market for women in anything except between their legs (colored as "fertility" by the Heritage Foundation in recent revelations).

But what of an NBA Seniors' Tour?  A summer NBA Legends League?

No one has proposed it, but I'd have to think some of these bigots have thought about it.

EDIT TO ADD:  On and off, Elon Musk has been trying to get people to drum up a campaign that Brittney Griner is a man.

A number of his supporters have said that a number of unnamed WNBA players are men.

The WNBA, today, said that should not have taken place.

And, for the record, the incident did not discriminate on side.  Two were bigots, the other was a supporter.

Another Fever game, another few ticks off the time bomb:

This one is on the court.

In a moment that does want me to say "Hit her again!  Hit her again!!  Harder!!!  Harder!!!!", Sophie Cunningham got a two-handed/armed shot to the face by Chicago's DeJonai Carrington.

Quite correctly, she was thrown out of the game under the NBA/WNBA's "Excessive and Unnecessary" Flagrant Foul Tier II criteria.

But, on top of that, ESPN has reported that Carrington then took to her Twitter to yell "White Privilege!" at Cunningham and her Indiana Fever.

The suspension is expected Sunday or Monday.

Sports To The Right, Part Three: The WNBA is dead in five years, and walking back on No Hate ensures it.

A recent WNBA game in Seattle against the Indiana Fever was the last straw.

The brass of the WNBA (and probably of the NBA as well) is transphobic.

Two MAGA jackasses/whores went in support of Sophie Cunningham's transphobic bullshittery (forgetting everything I've said about the transphobic women's sports movement), and they were openly challenged and confronted by no less than the co-owner of the Seattle Storm Celeste Keaton.

Keaton has been banned from all home games by the league for the entire month of August.

If that doesn't tell you that the brass of the WNBA (which probably also espouses the brass of the NBA) is not only transphobic, but actively supports it's own demise (which see the goals of the right-wing Heritage Foundation, that women's sports are to be burlesque for sexual want and nothing else), I don't know what's going to.

Are there transgender players in the WNBA?  Almost certainly not, we'd have found out about them.

But the only reason the WNBA is allowed to exist comes from the fruit of the same tree:  Without "Woke", there is no WNBA.  There are no women's professional sports.

Hell, the biggest professional football league for women in this is an Arena knockoff called the Legends Football League.

Of course, that's rebranded.  What it actually IS, and used to be called, was the LINGERIE Football League.

Women have no place in this country, under women like Cuntingham, but sexual playthings, rape toys, and creation of White Rapist Male Incels.  And maybe someone needs to wake that bitch in Indiana up on that fact.

Ban me too, WNBA.  Because you're done if you don't get with the program.  You have any number of female players in your league (many of them Black, but not all) who bitches like this MAGA whore Cunningham would state were men.

Sports To The Right, Part Two: Caitlin Clark is about to be upstaged because she's not going to go far enough for her masters...

I could smell it the moment I saw her picture on ESPN's front page and about her being "unmissable".

Welcome to the new probable face of the WNBA, for however little long the league has left, right-wing bigoted MAGA cunt Sophie Cunningham, or, after her transphobic rant last week, I prefer to call her Cuntingham.

She has made no secret of being a loud-mouthed supposed "Christian" who hates transgenders and transgenderism.  And, in a sport where it has been made no secret that much of the recent corporate success of the sport can be traced to the fact that the largely Black and liberal sport of women's basketball in this country has been gravitated (by ESPN and other parties) around a WHITE woman from Iowa, MAGA finally has the athlete it can perfect what they started with Clark.

And Clark better understand this if she has an interest in remaining the center of women's basketball, at least in corporate, media, and political realities.

Cunningham has one thing Clark does not:  She IS good-looking enough to be the Great White MAGA Hope of (The End Of)Women's Sports.  That includes this year's Sports Illustrated annual jack-off fest.  That's rare among actual qualified women athletes (Riley Gaines, that means you're out, you cunt whore!).

Cunningham has made her presence felt on transgender athletics and misgenders them every chance she gets.

What the cunt doesn't get is that she doesn't have a job -- probably of ANY KIND -- in the America she supports.  The only reason you have a WNBA IS "woke".  And there is a massive poison pill of MAGA which has crystallized behind Caitlin Clark (and might well perfect itself behind Cunningham -- see my third post on this subject which will come tomorrow -- too late to do it tonight!).

But the edges are beginning to fray.  I am fully expecting the belief of Cunningham that the WNBA has a number of transgender players (even if it does not -- or there are no known ones)...

Just a general round-robin of stories with one overreaching thread -- the plates are wobbling and about to fall off:

Karmelo Anthony (named after, obviously!!!) will spend 35 years in prison for the high-profile murder of a White track athlete in Texas.  They didn't wait to sentence him.

The NBA is being forced to condemn the actions of Knicks fans against Spurs fans in these Finals.  Monday's game was marred with several viral attacks on Spurs fans by Knicks fans on New York's streets.  (ESPN)  If the Spurs come back and win this series, you don't need to know the two reasons why.

After two days of meetings of concern among Big XII officials, Texas Tech is doubling down on the "gambling addict" angle with Brendan Sorsby and states he is going to play this season. It was largely immediately recognized, as an example, that the Debbie Gibson incident I had in 1998 was believed fueled by mental illness. I really wish people would understand not only the hypocrisy, but the danger, of Texas Tech going this route. Sorsby should be in prison for his gambling addiction and the obvious sports bribery which resulted from it. Additionally, this kind of an angle, if successful, renders the future policing of fair play impossible across American sports, with devastating results.

But this is nothing compared to the debacles on the soccer pitch:

The Trump Administration has made complete mincemeat of the World Cup.  At least two teams (Senegal and another) have detailed mass security efforts on American soil.

One of the assigned World Cup officials, a Qatari man, has been expelled from the World Cup, banned from the United States, and declared with terrorist ties.  Gee, you think that might not apply to MOST OF THE PEOPLE ASSOCIATED WITH FIFA, YOU ORANGE PIECE OF SHIT??   

Need I go into the Iran situation, especially with Trump bombing Iran just two days before the tournament is scheduled to begin?  Juicy, juicy terrorist targets all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico, by the way...    

Protests in Mexico appear ready to impact the fan experience in THAT host nation.

And, lastly, one on-the-pitch women's moment:  Last night, an edgy high-end international friendly between the United States and Brazil went VERY UNFRIENDLY in Brazil.  In the last 30 minutes of the match, the official sent off basically every coach for Brazil (four of them) and eventually sent off four players (including two after the whistle -- technically leaving Brazil with the minimum contingent to avoid an embarrassing abandonment of the match).  The United States won on a second-half own goal, 1-0.

Anyone who wants to believe this Knicks run is not complete Trump-led bullshit...

Some numbers for you:

2013-14, the first year after the last real playoff run for the Knicks before four out of the last five years:  37-45

2014-15:  17-65

2015-16:  32-50

2016-17:  31-51

2017-18:  29-53

2018-19:  17-65 again

2019-20:  21-45

2020-21 was their first playoff year since 2012-13:  41-31  Lost in the first round.

2021-22 was their last non-playoff year since:  37-45

2022-23:  47-53, lost in the Eastern Conference semis

2023-24:  50-32, lost in the Eastern Conference semis

2024-25:  51-31, so the same record roughly in the regular season.  But, with Trump in power, they at least made the Eastern Conference Finals.

And this year, they only went 53-29, didn't even win their division, and were the 3 seed in the East.

New York has lost two games the entire playoffs -- Games 2 and 3 of their first-round series with Atlanta.  They have now won 13 playoff games in a row, heading into the Trump Bowl at MSG tonight.

James Dolan is one of Trump's biggest supporters.  Remember where one of Trump's last real troll-job 2024 rallies was being held:  The same Madison Square Garden Trump enters tonight.

And don't fall for VoteHub's trying to sugar-coat it:  Quarterbacks skew Republican by about 13 points.

But the bigger lack of surprise is in the general findings:

• One of the things I really felt would start happening is the abolition of the NBA and WNBA, in the favor of MAGA League Baseball and the NHL.
• MLB is the most Republican-skewing of the major sports, with over 53% of those found registered Republican, only 7.8% Democrat. 
• And I don't believe your rant at all, Firefox Pocket or SB Nation or whoever it was:  The NHL has been actively trying to position itself as The Winter Sport under Trump.
• The NHL has the smallest Democratic registration of all the sports at less then 6%.  Republican?  Almost 44%.
• I don't believe for a second that US MAGA celebration with the FBI director was either against what you believe in or a bad thing for the league.  It probably came at Bettman's direction!
• The reason I think the NBA and WNBA are doomed if Trump ever gets around to being the President they REALLY voted for?  NBA:  42.9% Democrat, 10% Republican.
• WNBA:  2.3% Republican.  13 teams in the WNBA, assume 15 roster spots (as in the NBA) per team.  That would mean, if a representative sample were found, precisely FOUR Republican players in the WNBA.
• Democrat?  67.5%.  Or about a hundred and forty.

 

Tanking in the NBA clouds a very prescient reality the NBA can't admit for it's financial future...

One of the largest topics in the recent NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles was the continuing losing battle the NBA is fighting with "tanking" -- the practice of teams deliberately resting players to ostensibly lose games to improve their position in the NBA Draft the following season.

Adam Silver has actually now gone as far as possibly considering revoking draft picks (and he's not going to be able to do anything unless they are first-round draft picks in that regard), because he knows the fines, including a $500,000 fine applied to the Utah Jazz -- calling their violations of player participation "conduct detrimental to the league".

So how much does Mark Cuban get fined for saying today the NBA should accept and embrace tanking, in the name of the fans? 

Why the NBA should embrace tanking -

The NBA has kate been misguided thinking that fans want to see their teams compete every night with a chance to win. It’s never been that way that way.

Then you have a problem, Mr. Cuban.  A huge one.

The moment a fan can discern that every effort is not being made to win the game in progress, that fan is being financially and emotionally harmed by continuing to take part in the experience.  

Sometimes that is a night-to-night thing:  There are certainly games where almost every team is a substantial underdog or is seen that it is unlikely that they would win the given game.  This is understandable.

This is, however, a different process.  It is the deliberate understanding that the team is setting out to just survive the game, not get it's players injured for a game that it is not worth enough for them (micro or macro) to win.

At that point, why does a fan bother paying to see it?  And, writ larger, why do teams which continue to lose year after year after year be considered allowed to call themselves "professional" teams in the top-tier league?

Let's get some realities on "paper" here:

1) There are too many teams.

2) There are too many games.

3) There are too few players of sufficient "professional" caliber to support the number of teams or games that the league is bilking players, television partners, and corporate sponsors out of.

The fact is:  All four major professional leagues, in every idea except financial bottom line (which is why it won't be done) would do better either folding 25% of the teams or going promotion-relegation.

Make "professional", and top-tier professional at that, be earned.  You do it for the players -- why not force the same on the franchises?

The fact is (and it should've been demonstrated with the Foolish and Wretched One-Dimensional Ballhog, the National Bulls Broadcasting Company, and the National Bulls Association in the 1990's) that there aren't enough players to justify the existence of the number of professional teams in the top leagues in any of the major sports.

As a result, you are seeing pressures put on the NBA franchises to play top-flight players in the national televised games -- and it still doesn't help.

The fact is, there are just too many damn teams and no justification for a number of them to continue to exist.  And, in extreme cases, you get what happens in the NBA.

4) There is no legal ramification against a league fixing the games -- if Adam Silver really wants to prevent "tanking", he's going to have to state that it is an action outside of the league's allowed purview with respect to the manipulation of the contest's result, and punish accordingly.

5) It is of no secret that the games cost far too much money to attend, and that goes double when there's no assurance on the part of the two teams to actually provide a marketable contest.  

A fan can't recover for even a "tanked" game, just as he or she can't recover for a rigged one (only entitled to a seat and a result -- 2005 US Grand Prix lawsuit).  To actually provide the kind of fan experience Cuban wants, this MUST change, by any and all means necessary.

6) The games need to be believed to be on the level, because there's no way the tanking teams even believe the games are on the level -- much as many fans are basically certain the games are not.

If Adam Silver wants to prevent tanking, he has to take the following steps:

A) He has to basically admit the NBA (as the other professional sports have) has openly manipulated the games for their own benefit, financial and otherwise.  And that this process must stop.  The games must be officiated according to the rules and all efforts (including result reversal) must be on the table to ensure that what takes place on the court is the only factor which leads to the result.

B) He has to open the door to removal of teams.  This will probably never happen as organically or on a scale which needs to happen (see above), but the only way he's going to truly be able to prevent teams from tanking games is to put the nuclear option on the table -- once other means to improve fan experience and trust in the product are enacted.

In short, bad franchises need to die. 

C) The fact that teams with incompetent/lazy/greedy ownership can still advance through the ranks needs to be ended.  I'm about 70-80% toward getting rid of the NBA Draft entirely, and that can be a means in which bad franchises can rot and die.  At the barest of minimum, we need to get rid of the the worst team getting the best chance at the one or few relevant draft players. 

D) He needs to recognize that there will be games in which players need to be rested for their health and safety.

And the numbers came down today:

• Jalen Duren (DET) got two games for starting it. 
• Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate (CHA) got four each for escalating it.
• But the big one was a repeat offender, Detroit's Isaiah Stewart, who, for coming off the bench to flare up the confrontation, put one of the Hornets in a headlock and repeatedly punch him, and his lengthy record, got seven games.

Duren is an Eastern Conference All-Star reserve.  As of right now, that has not been removed.  It should be.  Not only because of the nature of the event, but he started the damn thing too!

First off, I think all the suspensions are low.  This had multiple flare-ups and the very real possibility the game should've been terminated.

Second, here's Stewart, from Spotrac, in his six-year NBA career:

• November 22, 2021:  Two game suspension, escalating a fight.
• February 22, 2024:  Three games, starting a fight.
• January 31, 2025:  $50,000 fine for obscene gestures following an ejection.
• Also suspended a game, because he had committed his sixth flagrant foul in just 47 games that season.
• April 1, 2025:  Two more games for escalating another incident.
• February 11, 2026:  He now gets seven.

That should be at least TWENTY.

Enough with "The Show Must Go On". 

That's three high-level suspensions in basically a calendar year.  He leaves the bench to join the altercation.  Headlock.  Punches.  Police are involved in the altercation (which should've terminated the game immediately and for the night -- that's a general pet peeve of mine, that any time the cops get involved, that's it for the night).

And the situation MAY, if true, have just gone terminal for the NBA...

At least one of the games involved in the NBA gambling scandal appears to have involved LeBron James.

James, to this point, has denied any involvement in knowing about the situation with the arrested today.

He had BETTER be telling the truth.  And I'm not 100% sure he is. 

Damon Jones was apparently off the books with the Lakers when he disclosed to his Mafia contacts that James was going to be out in a February 2023 game against the Bucks.

Milwaukee became an 8-point favorite with James out, and covered by one point -- 115-106.

Another Lakers game is also in the discussion, a January 2024 game with the Thunder.  This game involved information surrounding Anthony Davis.

 

This now just became a far bigger story than I think anyone is going to choose to admit.

Today, the day finally came for the first of the arrests in the Jontay Porter NBA gambling incident.

And I think Adam Silver had better be asking some real questions about the future of the National Basketball Association as a result.

Thirty-four people were arrested today in conjunction with at least seven NBA games in which insider information was fed to the Mafia to influence bets. 

At least three major NBA parties are involved, all have been placed on leave to be banned from the league if established, as Porter already has been:

• Terry Rozier, point guard for the Miami Heat 

Rozier was already under investigation with the NBA and Federal authorities regarding at least one game where suspicious bets were placed on his fantasy-sports numbers. 

The league allowed Rozier to continue to play, because no link to a crime had been established in the 2023 game.

Today's arrest shows that to be bullshit.   Rozier is now believed to have removed himself from the game the NBA was investigated to aid Mafia ties.

In short, match-fixing.  Point-shaving.

• Damon Jones, no longer in the NBA, but a former player and assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Jones is not only involved in the insider information end of it, but he is also being charged as part of a scheme to rig underground poker matches for the Mafia.

Players would be suckered in under the premise of being allowed to play with NBA stars, current and former.  And the house (the Mafia) would always win.

The third one, however, is probably the biggest.  He was only arrested for the poker end of it, but when you see who it was, I don't think there's any chance this doesn't eventually blow up into a major match-fixing scandal:

• Chauncey Billups, HEAD COACH of the Portland Trailblazers

And if Adam Silver wants to come out and claim no games were fixed, especially now with a head coach involved in the Mafia in 2023 (and probably further), I've got swampland I need to sell you in Libya.

As I often have to caution:  It is completely legal (criminal and civil) for the NBA (or any sports league) to fix it's own games, through the league itself.  This has been established in numerous court cases. 

What is not, and has never been, legal is the players and coaches to go into business for themselves.

This is the latter, old-school Mafia style.

There is no way I can believe that the Portland Trailblazers weren't ordered, on some level outside the NBA's purview, to lay down.  There has been ZERO relevance of the Trailblazers at any point during Billups' entire coaching career with the team.  The Trailblazers have had a .357 winning percentage in 328 games Billups has been the head coach, entering this season.

It is time for every player, every coach, every team to be investigated for possible match-fixing in the National Basketball Association.  Not as a function of "guilt by association", but the scale of the situation is, even to Bug Eyes, "mind-boggling". 

Anyone who bets on basketball, at any NBA level at this point, is throwing money to the Mafia.

Because I would metaphorically wager money I do not have that this situation goes far beyond these people, with the number of irrelevant "tanking" teams in the NBA.

Not enough, but it's the next step...

Ja Morant will sit the first 25 games of next season.  Suspension was announced today.

And it is a conditional.  He must be approved to return to play.  It's a "soft" life ban.  He can come back to play next season, if he actually completes a program between now and about the first of 2024.

I really, REALLY hope Adam Silver did an investigation on any possible gang ties Morant has.

I fear he has not, or this suspension (and the conditions) would've been a material life ban (minimum one year).

I hope, now, after the 25 games, the Grizzlies cut ties.  It won't matter on the court:  In the 50 games he's missed in his two seasons after ESPN pimped an entire college basketball season around the thug, the team is 33-17.
