Nope. JAB128 sent a comment on my statement on the Eris variant, and the possible restrictions to come.
It was from a new entry in Brian Tuohy's website news feed (he's had a couple bouts with COVID pre-Eris which have knocked him on his ass) surrounding Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between Boston and Philly, and a claim by one of the 76ers that the league wanted a close Game 7 Boston would win, for entertainment and for the better Eastern Conference Final matchup:

That just shows that these leagues are entertainment leagues. Von Allen (in his debate with Pat Troothner) didn't want to accept that, saying that they can't do that or they would be in violation of laws.
ReplyDeleteVon Allen is wrong.
DeleteIt is in fact completely legal for a _sports league_ to do that, if and only if the league is an appreciable part of the process, so that all the fans are entitled to (US Grand Prix tire dispute, Mayer) is a seat and a result.
And this (Houston Astros) has been applied toward the players (the pitchers who got bombed by the sign-stealers, were sent down, and never pitched in the majors again) as well.
