December 7, 2022 News and Notes

  • Cris Pannullo DEFEATED Tuesday night after 21 wins on Jeopardy!  Final was never his strong suit (14-8) and missing Final doomed him to a final total of $748,286.
  • New champion is Andy Tirrell, a professor from San Diego.
  • Aaron Judge is staying a Yankee -- 9 years, $360M.
  • To what should be no one's surprise, Time named Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (and the "spirit of Ukraine") the 2022 Person of the Year.
  • Raphael Warnock, in his fifth election in two years, has finally won a full term as a US Senator from Georgia, in a far-too-close election against Walking Ball of CTE Hershel Walker.  This means the final count for the next Congress is a one-seat Democratic pickup and the tiebreaker is no longer necessary at 51-49.
  • But now Biden and Harris face the opposite problem in the House of Representatives.  The Republican pickup was 7-9, and their total is 222 to the Democrats' 212 (there is still one vacancy).
