I could cut probably at least two or three posts out of situations ancillary to this, but something struck my mind.
A power substation in Tennessee has been taken out by gunfire, and 40,000 Tennesseans are going to be without power for the foreseeable future (it will take at least five days to put the power back on), and a curfew is now in effect .
At least one (LGBTQ) outlet has tied this event to a drag show scheduled for the area. There have been a NUMBER of attacks on such outlets in the last weeks.
That, however, said: It would appear that only two perceivable outcomes would come of an action such as this:
If it were because of something as simple as this, it's "nuclear bomb to take out a mosquito".
The second is the more ominous: "We're taking over."
Make no secret: Much of Tennessee is rural and quite bigoted. "Backwards" would not be out of line.
I do find it very hard to believe, however, that this terrorist attack is a function of the attack on LGBTQ's. To me, if it were, it would be a "last warning" -- as in "kill them or we end it all and take over" motif.
What people better get concerned with, and fast, is the number of people who would literally want to do the latter (and for whatever reason they want to do it), and the much smaller number of people would be needed to literally take over large swaths of rural land in this country.
I am reminded of the George Floyd riots in Minneapolis and thought what might happen if 20-30 determined rioters got in a car, headed East on I-94, and started targeting my old neck of the woods in Wisconsin: The rural towns of Ellsworth, Spring Valley, Plum City, Maiden Rock...
If this were an attack on a drag show, it's time to start shooting the bigots full-square -- a time long-past anyway.
I think it's something else, and people better start getting real and fast as to the number of people in this country who have a grievance long held.
And then, as some have pointed out, there IS a possibility that a smart guerilla war could start, Civil or otherwise....
