4th and 18 inches from the 2, and Allen FINDS the penetrating lineman to lose the game intentionally.
So.................
- 49 PPG on the nose this week. This was after the early games on Sunday averaged around 44.
- But the last early game went 62, the three late games went 51-58-64, and, after a 43 for SNF, the MNF game ends 34-31.
- Season average now up to 47.914. (Last year: Week: 47.357 Season: 50.78)
- Home teams went 4-9 this week, for 42-49 for the season. Yes, you read that right, home teams are now winning at a .4615 clip this season so far. (Last year: 7-7 for 47-43-1.)
- The Over went 5-8-1, with the Sunday nighter pushing at 43. Season: 42-51-1. (Last year: 42-51-1.)
- Vegas clawed back in the late games and the prime timers. After going 7-0 against the number in the early Sunday session, the late session and the two night games went 1-4 against the number and 2-3 straight up.
- For the week: ATS: 8-6 SU: 9-5. For the season: ATS: 43-51 SU: 58-36. (Last year: ATS: 5-9 for 41-48-1. SU: 8-6 for 59-30-1.)
- Team with more penalties was 5-8 this week. Season: 40-43. (Last year: 9-4 for 38-42.)
- 170 penalties in the 14 games this week (12.14 per game). 1,176 in the 94 games so far this season (12.5 per game). (Last year: 160 in 14 for the week (11.4), 1,037 in 91 for the season (10.3))
- We are now an entire week of penalties (to before the Sunday nighter) ahead of last year, though we've only played 3 more games.
- Again, doing this in reverse: That dive into the line was the 3rd Last Chance Miss of the Week for 24 total. (Last year had 5 for the week for 30 total.)
- One of the two biggest pieces of news for the week is that half the games were non-competitive. Seven of the contests never got within one score at any point in the fourth quarter. 33 for the year. (Last year: 6 for 29)
- The 7 is the most since Week 14 of the 2020 season, which also had 7. Week 15 of 2019 was the last one with more, with 8.
- Only six of the 14 games finished within one score. 45 of the 94 games, 47.9%, have now finished within one score. (Last year: 7 for 46 (50.54%))
- But here's the stat the NFL is making hay on: Four Cliffhangers, all within the last minute. This makes 25 Cliffhangers for the year (last year's Week 6 only had one, for 16 total), and 23 of them (an NFL record through six weeks) decided in the last minute and in overtime.
- They also had two double Cliffhangers and a Triple Cliffhanger.
- 2015 is the closest competitor with 22 through six weeks (last minute and overtime) and 23 through seven. 2015 Week Eight, however, had four within the last minute and overtime (including a Quad Cliffhanger on Monday night with an overtime game). So this year only needs two more in Week Seven to match the Week EIGHT record.
