Day 583

  • At first thought, I was thinking:  How the Hell could Mike Shildt have been fired Thursday as the manager of the Cardinals after all that happened?  Sounds like it was irreconcilable conceptual differences in the direction of the team.  That makes sense.
  • For the record, I always viewed the Giants as, more, recipients of everything which had been going on in Major League Baseball with respect to the Dodgers.  Even a few hours on, though -- that's still "Hoo boy that could've gone either way."  I will not blame any Giants fan for being pissed today, or for thinking this was rigged against them.
  • Newest revelations appear to indicate a significant conflict of interest in the NFL with the Washington Football Team situation -- a close relationship between league general counsel Jeff Pash and former Washington executive Bruce Allen has been revealed.
  • Damien Williams of the Bears is out against the Packers for a COVID positive.
  • And it appears a far more major one in the National League Championship Series as Jorge Soler also has tested positive for the Cobb County Braves, who will host the Dodgers on Saturday.  (Seeds hold for the CS -- Dodgers would have home field with better record for the World Series if they make it.)
  • And yet more pro-Tom Brady Refball Thursday Night...

  • Or some sort of personal foul for contact to the head or the like...
  • And here goes the sweep job:  The NFL is saying that no other current league personnel are implicated in the WFT e-mails.  Sure.  Yeah.  Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...
  • To be blunt, I'd be surprised if we get through Week Six without finding more current league people involved.  And, even if that is right, then why wasn't Gruden fired by the league before he led the Raiders to Las Vegas?  You're lying, Goodell...  AGAIN!
