NFL Week 2 Score Report

Well, the Pack returned to somewhat normal for at least one night...  Cost one guy who bet with BetMGM  a 16-team parlay worth almost three-quarters of a million dollars on a $25 bet.  He was 15-for-15 in the parlay, but needed the Lions to win to get it done...

  • Last year's Week 2 was 853 points, 53.125 PPG for the week.  This year, they could "only" get 778 for 48.625.
  • Through the first nine games of Sunday, those nine games averaged 38.444 PPG.  Then the rest of the schedule went 83-37-67-63 for the late slots, 71 for the Sunday nighter, 52 for tonight.
  • Meaning season average for two weeks is 48.3125 PPG.  Last year:  50.343.
  • The home teams were 8-8 this week -- 15-16 for the year.  Last year:  11-5 for 19-13.
  • The Over was also 8-8.  (Started the week 3-7!)  15-17 for the year.  Last year:  11-5 for 20-12.
  • Favorites fared a bit better this week than last:  7-9 against the number, 11-5 straight up.  Season:  11-21 against the spread, 18-14 straight up.  Last year:  ATS:  7-9 for 15-16.  SU:  14-2 for 23-8.
  • The big news of the first two weeks:  Penalties!!  Team with more penalties was 5-10 this week for 15-15 for the two weeks.  Last year:  9-6 for 13-16.
  • But the big number:  220 penalties called this week for 434 for the two weeks.  That's almost 14 a game for the week and over 13.5 for the season.  Last year, 199 for Week 2 and 380 for the 2 weeks.  That's over 2.5 more penalties a game this season than last!
  • Three Cliffhangers this week as well.  Six for the year.  Last year:  Also had 3 for the week, but the total is 5.
  • Half the games ended within one score, 17 of the 32 so far this year.  Last year:  7 for the week, 14 of 32 for the year.
  • 5 non-competitive games this week, total of 12 so far in the 2021 season.  Last year:  Also 5 for the week, total 10.
  • And Last Chance Misses?  Only two this week (the Chiefs fumble and Minnesota missing a game-winner at the gun).  8 so far this season.  Last year:  5 for the week, 12 total.
