Today is 20 years since that fateful morning where "everything changed".
I remember where I was that Tuesday morning: I was asleep.
As a homeless San Franciscan on the Left Coast, I slept through the main events of that morning fairly cleanly. I was on the sidewalk near Octavia Avenue, where I could sleep relatively peacefully.
So, since I didn't have to go to the bathroom right away, I decided, when I got up around noon Eastern and 9 AM my time, to head over and catch up on the news and the like at the 15-minute public computers at the local library...
It was when I got there that I noticed something was off. The library was not only closed, but the entrance, for the first and ONLY time I remember it (they may well have done this for the long time the SFPL was closed for the coronavirus), the entrance had a chain-link fence flush to it.
So, with that discovered, I decided to head over to lay down some more at the Performing Arts Plaza outside of City Hall...
... to find THAT chain-fenced.
I do not recall what, eventually, I did that morning. The next thing I recall was, somewhere between noon and 1 that afternoon, going to Glide Memorial Church for the daily lunch. It was in that general area, I saw two things:
The first was a television set in another building either in or near the Tenderloin giving me the first real impression I had of the events of that morning. That turned my stomach.
The second was this: The cover of a special edition of the free tabloid-style daily San Francisco Newspaper the Examiner:
That, as they call it in the newspaper trade, is "wartime font". And the more I've listened to of various broadcasts and accounts of what people went through that day, I think the font was well-earned.
So we set down to deal with the realities of what had happened and those we lost, etc. and so forth.
I don't think it's going to surprise too many people to find out that I am a degree of a 9/11 "truther". I do believe it was an inside USA job, with the obvious help of the parties in the Middle East.
I have three main reasons for this supposition:
1) The installation by the Supreme Court of the Bush Jr./Cheney regime 9 months before.
2) The work of KGO's Ray Taliaferro in exposing, to a legion of night-time listeners, the work of Dick Cheney and the Project for a New American Century (PNAC).
KGO was one of my go-to's when my portable radio wasn't stolen. KGO, until the pedophilia debacle surrounding Bernie Ward, was the pre-eminent liberal news-talk radio station in the American West, 50,000 watts and all. Taliaferro was an African-American overnight host (1-5 AM Pacific) with very strong beliefs about Cheney and PNAC, and, once I did some more backstudy on the group, I was pretty clear they had to be involved in all of this.
And if you don't believe that a US Vice President could be capable of that, I want you to keep in mind something: The Boy (Bush 43) was the first "0" President (elected year ending in 0) since 1820 not to either die in office (1840-1960) or have a major assassination situation against them without dying (1980).
Why? Dick Cheney. Much like Mr. "Potatoe" with Bush 41, no one in even their WRONG MIND wanted to see Dick Cheney with the Nuclear Football.
But there's a third reason I believe this was an "inside job" that many might not expect:
3) It ended up a failed and botched operation, like every United States military and/or intelligence excursion in the last... 50? 75??? years...
Once that first plane hits the first tower, you have only a very short time before everybody kinda gets an idea of what's going on with any further attempts (foreign or domestic-based) getting what happened with Flight 93.
Most of us who were thinking figured out that Flight 93 was probably "the money shot" -- to take out a sitting Congress in the Capitol. Most people had to know that Bush the Son was in Florida at that elementary school (and if this wasn't an inside job, that would be the softest target to take out a head of state in Western history, so why didn't they do it???), so you nail the financial and military centers -- and now here's the fourth plane getting diverted to take out SOMETHING in Washington until the passengers, who, by then, knew what was going on, put the plane down in Western Pennsylvania.
Never Forget THAT, America... We're sick of being told what to forget and what not to forget, especially on days like this.
But if you want us not to forget something on this 20th anniversary, then may we not forget the evils Dick Cheney and PNAC wanted to visit on everybody.
Or is that too inconvenient for your beautiful minds to remember?
