Matt Millen's comments and Greg Hardy returning weren't the only bullshit going on this weekend:
- Benjamin Knox of the University of South Florida was an offensive lineman at the school. Somehow, Knox it would be a good idea to take a gun and, with a dorm-ful of students inside, shoot the exterior of the building. He's been arrested. (Deadspin)
- The Steve Sarkasian era at USC is probably over, as of today. Another bout of alcohol has probably cost Sarkasian his job, as he's been forced to take a leave of absence and enter treatment after showing up to a practice today after a Thursday loss in no shape to be the head coach of a football team. He was removed from practice by his assistants. (Deadspin)
- The word coming out of USC now appears to indicate that Sarkasian may have been drunk during USC's lone Pac-12 2015 victory (September 26, over Arizona State) as well! (Yardbarker)
- On the referee end, here's a rare case of a receiver overcoming the referees on the NFL level: Devonta Freeman of Atlanta makes a perfectly good touchdown catch and gets it reversed... only to score two plays later. If anyone can explain to me how that reception was not called a touchdown as he reached the ball over the goal line, I'd like to hear this one -- Calvin Johnson Rule or any other. (Deadspin)
- According to the comments of the same article, Mike Pereira tried: The rule now, appears to be that, if a defender is in contact with a receiver at the time of a catch (which, in cases like this, would be either illegal contact or pass interference, by my understanding of those rules!!!), then the receiver has to break contact or go all the way to the ground in possession to get the score, even AFTER breaking the plane of the goal line??? ARE WE FUCKING SERIOUS???
- Another fan fight for the week's quota. Kansas City is the site of this bathroom donnybrook. (Looks like the video cut in too late.) (Deadspin)
- And, Seahag's Gotta Seahag!! Michael Bennett appears to cheapshot Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton twice in a clip the NFL has apparently yanked off Vine. He was flagged.
- And one more, this from the world of social media. Washington State just upset Oregon this week in college football. Owing to the fact that Oregon was wearing helmets in tribute to the Oregon Trail, someone remembered his childhood in front of a computer and...
