This Trevor Bauer situation stinks, and BAD.

Rob Manfred, you know something.

And it's high time the world finds out WHAT.

Two days ago, a report surfaced that the Pasadena Police Department was investigating an assault claim against Trevor Bauer of the LA Dodgers, who has alleged that Bauer knocked her out and strangled her during rough sex about six weeks ago.

Graphic details were released, probably through rummaging through the complaint the woman filed, a day later in The Athletic.  Since that publication has a deep paywall, it probably has saved MLB further embarrassment...

... until today, when LA Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reported that Major League Baseball has instructed the Dodgers to allow Bauer to pitch on his July 4th start in Washington against the Nationals...

Let's back up a bit.

The current policy, which was enacted in 2015, gives the Commissioner wide latitude to punish players even accused of sexual assault (it's the same policy as the domestic violence policy).
  • The key current part of this is that the Commissioner can place any player who is so accused under paid Administrative Leave for seven days.  The player may go to arbitration to challenge this placement.
  • Then the player can be disciplined, pursuant to the severity of the act and without limit, by the Commissioner at sole, appeal-able (to the same arbitration panel) discretion.
  • Unfortunately, THE CLUB CANNOT DISCIPLINE THE PLAYER IN ANY MANNER UNLESS THE COMMISSIONER DIRECTLY ALLOWS THEM TO IN REPLACEMENT OF HIS OWN POWER.

Mr. Manfred, you know something.

Let's remember the speed with which the NFL was forced to act on Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, etc. and so forth and so on.

So it's clear to me that, even before you try to investigate Bauer, you know something here.

Even at least one former Dodger has demanded Bauer's immediate placement on Administrative Leave.

So what the fuck are you waiting for?  Myself and at least one other reader have some ideas...
  • The first is that you don't want to open up Pandora's Box and expose how such a fucking scumbag could even be a Major League Baseball pitcher, much less a Cy Young Award winner.
There, probably, is already evidence that Trevor Bauer, through his use of illegal substances on the balls, defrauded his way to the 2020 Cy Young Award for the National League with Cincinnati.

This is the same man who hissy-fitted his way out of Cleveland with one of the worst on-field temper tantrums against a manager's decision to pull him in the recent history of Major League Baseball.

This is the same man who was one of the most vocal advocates for "leveling the playing field" against the juiced balls of the last couple of years.
  • He is also the same man who has had a long history of bullying women on social media, probably meaning that if the Commissioner's Office investigates this with any degree of seriousness, they're going to find more women, forcing Manfred to throw Bauer -- one of the stars of the game -- out of the sport for life!
Talking with a reader of the blog last night, it became fairly clear to both of us that there was a very real chance that Bauer, while with the Indians and the Reds, probably committed similar acts against any number of Ohio women.

The allegation here is being made by someone who got into contact with Bauer online -- one thing led to another -- and the two got together for a sexual event.  Bauer took full advantage of the situation and not only knocked the woman out, causing a concussion, but apparently strangled the woman as well.

Among the injuries, according to one Dodger commenter, they include a basilar fracture of the woman's skull.

Bauer attributes it as "rough sex".

To me, the bidding starts at "assault" and might well end at "attempted murder"!!!

But this does raise the scepter of that, now that one has come forward, others might well.  And this man has an apparent history of going after women online.
  • But today's announcement that the Commissioner's Office, even with the article from The Atlantic, will NOT pursue the Administrative Leave at this time, makes intelligent people wonder how many other Major League Baseball players have committed the same or similar acts, or would if given the chance to do so!
Major League Baseball has become about as MAGA as NASCAR in the last number of years.

The political leanings of MLB have become obvious and very Trumpian Republican -- up to and including political donations.

I don't think I need to tell you what that means about how MLB, politically, views women.  If you need a refresher, I've been banned from Twitter TWICE -- and at least one of those bans was for telling Republican women to paint bull's-eyes on their vaginas so that their Republican male betters can tell where to grab.

But the fact is that one has to think, especially with a number of the hotheads running around MLB, there could easily be an epidemic of this kind of "rough sex" in the league -- and, since they are "economically important", no one has the balls to go after them.

---

It is, however, ironic...

If this piece of shit is allowed to make his next start, it will be on July 4th, at about noon Eastern, in Washington, DC against the Nationals.

Something MUST be done to prevent this start.  If it takes an outright arrest to do so, that may be what it has to come to...
