(Hat-tip to my anonymous baseball-historian friend again on this big piece of news...)
A plot has apparently been uncovered which almost-certainly had designs to shoot up the All-Star Game and other festivities in similar style to the Las Vegas terrorist event of several years back.
16 long guns, over 1000 rounds of ammunition, vantage-point materials, and drugs were seized from a seventh-floor room at the Maven Hotel, near Coors Field.
They were going to shoot up the All-Star Game or an ancillary event or crowd, it is charged.
Four men in their 40's -- 2 Mexicans, an Asian, and a fourth man -- were arrested. At least two had outstanding warrants. At least one was planning to take his life in the event, after an ugly divorce.

It's past time that we have a real conversation about fans at sporting events, etc.
The fact is, we are at the point where it is now clear that if we have not lost societal order, we are definitely in the process of doing so.
If not for an observant maid at the room who decided to contact police, there was a very good chance that, some point in the next 48-72 hours, it would've been on.
I don't know what's it's going to take for people to get the idea that the shit has hit the fan (pardon the pun, in this particular case) in this country.
