No joke.
I'm deathly serious.
Over the course of the early part of this week, I reported the following temperatures from Lytton:
- Sunday: 45.5 Celsius -- 113.9 Fahrenheit. That was a new record for Canada's hottest temperature.
- Until it was broken again Monday with 47.9 C -- 118.2 F
- Tuesday: 49.6 C -- 121 F
- All three are world records for above 50 degrees North Latitide.
Too bad they will probably never be able to celebrate it.
Wednesday, a fire DESTROYED NINETY PERCENT OF THE TOWN.
Lytton, British Columbia, Canada -- for all intents and purposes -- NO LONGER EXISTS.
The mayor of the town actually said that the town literally went aflame within FIFTEEN MINUTES.
The town was gone that fast. 1000 residents have had to permanently scatter to six adjoining communities.
Many believe lightning was the cause.
