Another "under the table" sneak attempt here:
ESPN got rocked last week with another blow to it's reputation.
NBA analyst Rachel Nichols was revealed in a New York Times article yesterday to be "tired of" BLM and #MeToo, as well as laughing with long-time LeBron James advisor Adam Mendelsohn on the same subjects.
And it, once again, has shown what it is to be Black and on ESPN. In short, a White patriarchy barely trying to conceal differences between it and Barstool Sports.
Deadspin continues the report by reprising an article from last July about someone who actually hijacked the home or hotel feed used for that day's "The Jump" NBA program to record a four-minute audio of Nichols basically saying this last year.
The thing is: This is what happens when you are literally being pulled both directions.
Two of the three most prominent sports leagues in this country are at least 70% or more Black.
But the fact cannot be escaped that a significant amount of the money and viewership is leaving sports (at all levels) because of racist disgust with the African-American.
So someone like an ESPN is being pulled both directions: You have to cater to the political "woke" side of things -- if you don't, you don't have a football (college or pro) and you don't have an NBA at barest of minimum. And that will be enough to take out the entire network, because of the amount of commercial revenue in that programming.
That said, many (especially White) Americans are leaving the sports fandom because it's "too Black".
And then, Mike Hill, of the show "Start Your Day!" revealed that basically every Black employee at ESPN has "gone through Hell" with the Worldwide Leader...
The fact is simple, and even ESPN needs to remember this: Without Blacks, you don't have sports in this country on any meaningful level.
Even Jimmy the Greek knew this honestly, and was fired for basically being entrapped by someone into saying it publicly!
This reminds me of the 70's, when they said that the NBA was "too black".
ReplyDeleteMuch of the downturn in sports watching, especially among White viewers, has said that has spread to all of professional sports.
