Day 196

  • Chicago Bears legend Gale Sayers died today.  Sayers' family had been trying to sue the NFL for last six years over football-caused dementia.  Another sacrifice to the altar.
  • AEW's Lance Archer self-reported a positive COVID-19 diagnosis from over the weekend.  He had not been in contact with anyone from AEW then or since, but a planned six-man tag-team match to set up his earned championship match is off.
  • He earned it from a "Casino Battle Royale" win in the last pay-per-view.  Eddie Kingston was deemed eliminated from the battle royal last when he was thrown off the top of the turnbuckle support outside the ring after sliding under the bottom rope.
  • Hence, he was not thrown over.  The Archer positive gave AEW the opportunity to solve a booking problem, and Eddie Kingston will face Jon Moxley tonight for the AEW World Championship.
  • University of Houston's football team is having a serious problem.  North Texas has now reported enough COVID positives so as not to be able to play -- the FOURTH TIME Houston has been unable to field it's team for the first time this year.  In all four cases, it's been the other team.
  • A team doctor for the LA Chargers sidelined Tyrod Taylor this week.  He was trying to inject a painkiller, and punctured Tyrod's lung instead!!!  Taylor has two cracked ribs.
  • In something which is resonating through Black athletes, the death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville will go to a Grand Jury for only one of the three officers involved. Tick, tick, tick...
  • Road Warrior Animal went to join his partner Hawk today, passing away at age 60.
