Day 188

  • You still want to believe there will be college football to any meaningful degree this year?  On the same day that Nebraska officials are saying there will be a re-vote on the Big Ten season and they will play...
  • Ed Orgeron has admitted that most of his LSU football team has caught the coronavirus.
  • Texas Tech has reported five more positives -- now total of 75 positives since the team came back in June.
  • The MLB bubble plan has been approved.  Start of the Wild Card round is two weeks from today, Game One of the World Series from Texas (the entire World Series will be played in Arlington) starts on October 20th and ends October 29th.
  • The head coach of Navy has had to apologize to the Air Force program.  Navy and Army football teams are playing full schedules this year.  Air Force, however, is only playing the other two service academies to contest the Commander in Chief Trophy.  Navy was not pleased with this.
  • The US Open is this week at Winged Foot and the USGA wants to assert it's authoritah...  Projected-by-USGA winning score??  EIGHT OVER PAR!!  Fucking ridiculous.  If you are DESIGNING the course to embarrass your professionals, then you are basically saying that most of the professionals on the PGA Tour are not good enough and are stealing money - and that's the LAST MESSAGE you need to be sending at a time like this!
  • To give you an idea of how ridiculous this process is:  Retired professional wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T announced today that he received a test result from the CDC which indicated he had tested positive for the coronavirus.  Problem being, that test was in LATE JUNE!  Booker has noted three subsequent tests have all come back negative.

Ratings news for the NFL:

  • 10.7 million for the first game, 7.7 million for the second for Monday Night Football last night.  Dancing with the Stars actually outdrew the second game with about 8.1 million.
  • Game 1 down 21%.  Game 2 down 38%.
  • The White Right has spoken -- the #NFLBoycott is in even fuller swing.

And the numbers for Sunday are finally in:

  • CBS Single:  -12%
  • FOX Regional:  +7%
  • FOX National:  +8%, led by Buccaneers-Saints
  • Sunday Night:  -15%, the lowest Week 1 Sunday Night since 2008.
  • And Thursday night was -12% as well.

Hoo boy.

  • There are now people who are posting on their social media that Black-led sports are supporting terrorism.
  • In what, sadly, cannot be surprising given his tumultuous life, Conor McGregor has been rumored seeking suicide counseling lately.  A private Facebook post today, however, has Conor far more resolute to carry on.  There appear, however, to be allegations of something which have troubled him.
  • It appears at least one of the allegations is a sexual assault allegation in Corsica.
  • And the fires in Washington State have called off the Mariners and Giants for the next couple days.
