Day 185

  • Fire at the stadium of the Florida Gators produced a lot of smoke and more than a small scare today...
  • But the cause was a malfunctioning golf cart and it has been put out.
  • A more scary situation is developing in Kansas City.  Standoff with an armed gunman in the parking lot adjacent to Royals Stadium has put the game on hold for time being.
  • That will appear not only to delay tonight's game about 30 minutes, but also reduce the number of broadcasting staff on site.
  • And this weekend is another weekend BaseBrawl fans have been waiting for:  Astros-Dodgers:  THE REMATCH. Tonight on FOX, tomorrow night on ESPN.
  • And the wildfires in California may move or postpone the Rams-Cowboys opener tomorrow.  If that's the case, there's NO WAY the Cardinals and 49ers are playing!!
  • Final opener ratings from Sports Media Watch for the NFL still show the #NFLBoycott is in full swing, but some improvement:  11.2 rating, 19,300,000 viewers, but that's still down 12% rating, 13% viewers from last year.
  • Six years ago, the NFL drew 26,900,000.  So they've lost about 30% due to the White Right.
  • More than 1,400 new cases of the virus this week at the University of Georgia.  If that number is correct, that would represent about 3.5% of the entire student body from last year.
  • Virus positives at Va. Tech have felled next week's Virginia-Virginia Tech college football game.
  • Big Ten wants another shot at voting the season back into existence.  Will try again tomorrow.
  • With coronavirus cases multiplying tenfold to almost 350 at Michigan State University, all students are now being asked to self-quarantine.
