- Eagerly awaiting the NFL overnights to see if the #NFLBoycott is taking hold even more. Goodell was definitely cooking it up for Week 1.
- Because Kenny Albert was working some of the NHL broadcasts and didn't get back to the States in time, the NFL will not let him work the first two weeks. Anyone coming from any foreign country has to sit 14 days, per league rules.
- The Athletic reports that the NBA will now not start the 2021 season (might as well not bother with 2020-21, as a result) before the metaphorical season-opening on Christmas Day.
- Dominic Thiem won the men's US Open, rallying two sets down to win in a fifth-set tiebreaker over Alexander Zverev. Naomi Osaka won the women's tournament.
- Alec Mills threw MLB's second no-hitter of the shortened season, no-hitting the Brewers 12-0.

- A's (85-63), 3 up on the Astros (82-66), 6.5 up on the Angels (79-70) All other AL West teams out.
So:
- Orioles, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Tigers, Royals, Rangers and Mariners all eliminated.
- The Twins, this week, became the first Botball team to clinch playoffs. Twins Magic Number for the AL Central is 2. Magic number for the #1 American League seed is 3.
- Wild Card: Current game is Rays at Indians (5.5 up on the Rays). Indians Magic Number for the playoffs is 8 with the White Sox, the best team out of the playoffs right now.
- Tragic Numbers: Only one appearing remotely close is the Angels, and that's 9 with the Rays!

- Washington (93-56), 1 1/2 games over Atlanta (91-57), Philly is absolutely hanging on and about to drop at 74-75, 19 out of the division, Tragic Number 3 with both Cincinnati and Arizona for the WC. All other NL East teams eliminated.
- Cubs (89-60), 3 1/2 up on the Reds (85-63, 1/2 game up on the second WC over Arizona) All other NL Central teams out.
- Dodgers (86-64), 1/2 game up on the D-Backs (85-64) after LA took 2 of 3 in the final series between the two. San Diego is 72-77, Tragic Number 1 with both Cincy and Arizona. All other NL West teams out.
So:
- Mets, Marlins, Pirates, Brewers, Cardinals, Giants, and Rockies all eliminated.
- San Diego and Philadelphia go early this week.
- Wild Card: Reds at Atlanta (6 up on Cincinnati). Washington's playoff Magic Number is 6, Atlanta's is 8, the Cubs are 10.
