The Winter Olympic Virus, Day 6, Part 2

  • Iran's Hossein Saveh Shemshaki is provisionally suspended for an Olympic drug positive.
  • Norwegian media have been banned to talk to Russian skiers because of coverage of the illegal Russian team.
  • And a third American gold on Day Six -- Chloe Kim and Nathan Chen won their highly-favored events, and now the mixed team aerials X-Games-ish skiing event has also gone gold for the United States.  If the Russian medal is nullified, then, as of this moment (and a decision that almost certainly will neither be made nor announced tonight Beijing time), the USA would go from 17th on the table two days ago to #1.  They're #3 as things stand.
  • And, with six days in the books, the doubles luge title actually gives Germany the gold medal lead with six.  Norway has five.  The USA are among several countries with four.
  • Austria lead the total with 13, Norway and Canada have 12, the illegal Russian team has 11, USA now has 10.
