I got curious to check something out as I have been perusing the Internet and had memory of a previous post I made.
What really got me to move this post here is the statement made today by former WWE wrestler Nia Jax, who said she knows a number of athletes, in many professional sports, who have acquired fake vaccination cards.
To show how much I do believe she is right, I had a question from when I had been looking at Sharp Football Analysis' chronicle of the COVID list in the NFL, as I used for an earlier post to show the exploding Omicron wave.
So now, I ask myself: Take all the starting quarterbacks in the NFL -- how many made the list, and how many of THEM were vaccinated?
- Arizona: Kyler Murray: No Was vaccinated, the team was announced as fully vaccinated.
- Atlanta: Matt Ryan: No, but one of his backups was. Was vaccinated, the team was announced as fully vaccinated.
- Baltimore: Lamar Jackson: Yes, unvaccinated, and two of his backups also tested positive around Christmas. He probably would've tested positive for what would've been a THIRD TIME during the Omicron wave if he wasn't injured.
- Buffalo: Josh Allen: No, but two of his backups did in November. PROBABLY unvaccinated. He shut his mouth on the subject, which is all but an indictment as things stand.
- Carolina: Sam Darnold: No, vaccinated in June and July according to league sources.
- Cam Newton: No, and vaccinated in October after claiming he was cut by the Panthers because of his non-vaccination to that point.
- Chicago: Justin Fields: Tested positive at the end of the season. Backup Andy Dalton also tested positive in mid-December. Both were vaccinated.
- Cincinnati: Joe Burrow: No, but a backup has. Burrow is vaccinated, the coach revealed that in December.
- Super Bowl Note: As of the writing of this post, the Bengals only have one player on the list, injured linebacker Joe Bachie.
- Cleveland: Baker Mayfield: Yes, as was Case Keenum, both in mid-December. Mayfield stated he's been vaccinated since mini-camp (and felt the team being vaccinated would give them an advantage over teams not so compliant), Keenum was also vaccinated.
- Dallas: Dak Prescott: No. Confirmed he was vaccinated around Thanksgiving, though he gave deference to unvaccinated teammates. Since he said that, 22 Cowboys and coach Mike McCarthy all tested positive.
- Denver: Teddy Bridgewater: No, but a backup did. Was vaccinated.
- Detroit: Jared Goff: Yes, near Christmas. He didn't say himself, but the Detroit Free Press has apparently found out he was vaccinated.
- Green Bay: Need we even go there with Aaron COVIDiot?
- Houston: Davis Mills: No. Tyrod Taylor didn't either. No word on either's vaccination status, as the team has played it very close to the vest. Given how others have abused the "personal matter" moniker, however, it appears (at least to me) Taylor is not vaccinated.
- Indianapolis: Carson Wentz: Twice, first as a close contact in training camp. Then a positive just after Christmas. Given that he went off the list New Year's Day, assumed he is vaccinated.
- Jacksonville: Trevor Lawrence: No. And no indication as to whether Lawrence is vaccinated at all.
- Kansas City: Patrick Mahomes: No. Was vaccinated, stated he was doing so to protect his newborn daughter.
- Las Vegas: Derek Carr: No. No word on if Carr was vaccinated, but the Raiders have been heavily fined and lost a draft pick due to COVID protocols.
- LA Chargers: Justin Herbert: No. Was vaccinated.
- LA Rams: Matthew Stafford: No. No word on whether he was or wasn't. The coaching staff said during training camp that almost all of the team was vaccinated, but Stafford's wife was railing on the "dictatorship of Michigan" over COVID when Stafford tested positive twice last season.
- Super Bowl Note: As of the writing of this post, no Rams are on the COVID list.
- Miami: Tua Tagovailoa: No. Confirmed he was vaccinated when the Aaron COVIDiot situation hit the table.
- Minnesota: Kirk Cousins: Yes, twice. Close contact training camp, positive New Year's Eve. Two backups also positive. Unvaccinated, even as of a week ago.
- New England: Mac Jones: No. Has been quiet as to whether he is vaccinated, so I think you can guess which way I think this goes.
- New Orleans: Taysom Hill: Yes, around Christmas. Hill was vaccinated, as indicated by only spending six days on the COVID list. (An unvaccinated player must spend at least ten.)
- Jameis Winston: No. Vaccination unknown.
- New York Giants: Daniel Jones: No. Going to assume he was vaccinated, because the owner of the Giants, if he had his way, would make vaccines mandatory for all players to play in the NFL.
- New York Jets: Zack Wilson started the majority of the year: No. Not promising for him to be vaccinated -- unlike the Giants, the Jets made it more of a personal choice.
- Mike White: Yes, around Thanksgiving. Was vaccinated.
- Joe Flacco: Twice, close contact training camp, positive the same week as White. NOT vaccinated.
- Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: No. Was vaccinated, and felt it would be good to do so to properly lead the team.
- Pittsburgh Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger: Yes, positive in mid-November. Was vaccinated before his positive.
- San Francisco: Jimmy Garoppolo: No. Told reporters he was vaccinated by the middle of this season.
- Seattle: Russell Wilson: No. Is vaccinated, and is one of the more outspoken NFL players on the benefits of being as such. Hosted an NBC special last April, when the vaccines came out, to encourage Americans to get the shot.
- Tampa Bay: Tom Brady: No. Was vaccinated. The team announced before the season started the team was fully vaccinated.
- Tennessee: Ryan Tannehill: Yes, just before the season. Was vaccinated, and apparently didn't like it. He made it clear in early training-camp, before the positive, he felt the NFL forced his hand.
- Washington: Taylor Heinecke: Yes, a week before Christmas. Was vaccinated.
