- Don Cornelius, the host of Soul Train, has been accused of sexual abuse of various women affiliated with Playboy.
- It appears this may be just the beginning of this round -- as A&E is doing a 10-part "exposing the dark side" series on Hugh Hefner and Playboy. Hundreds of women have condemned the series in support of Hefner -- which may tell you many of them (and the stereotype, though not universal, of Playboy playmates not being the sharpest knives in the drawer has quite some merit) knew their only legitimate purpose was sexual.
- A statement at the end of each episode indicates the allegations span decades at the magazine, but that very few, if any, ever saw the light of day in court -- and, hence, cannot be taken as a complete admission/dossier of guilt against Hefner or any of his colleagues.
- Jeff Zucker is out as the president of CNN, fired due to an inappropriate relationship with a female colleague discovered during the Cuomo investigation.
- Cheslie Kryst, the 2019 Miss USA, died at 30. Multiple blunt force injuries after a fall from a high condominium on Sunday. There is no word yet on whether it was suicide (many of the tributes and news reports are pointing in that direction), but it appears it was either that or an intruder forcing the issue. The reason I'm saying the latter is that Kryst was active on her social media until less than six hours before her fall Sunday morning.
- It is official -- the Washington Football Team will go forward as the Washington Commanders, it was announced this morning.
- Jimmy Garoppolo has said he wants and expects a trade from the 49ers and to be traded to a "winning situation". *cough* WHAT????!??!?!!??? DUDE... In just the last three seasons, the 49ers have been to one Super Bowl and got a field goal from a second one!!!
- Cameron Clark, who spent the season on injured reserve after a spinal cord injury in Jets training camp, has retired at the advice of doctors, risk of paralysis. His two years attempting to be in the NFL with the Jets were both completely wiped due to injuries.
- ESPN is barfing out the top 100 baseball players of all time in a survey they've commissioned. Pete Rose doesn't even crack the top 30, nor does Satchel Paige. Nor does Sandy Koufax. Bonds, Clemens, Jeter and A-Roid do. Herp-de-derp. Herp-de-derp.
- It will be interesting to see how many of the top 30 actually fall outside the ESPN Era (1979-). They've revealed up to #26 (A-Roid), and Roberto Clemente (#27) is the only player in 26-30 to fall completely outside. Johnny Bench is #29, and he was mostly outside. 1-25 tomorrow.
- Word from Sports Illustrated is that when Al Michaels broadcasts Super Bowl LVI a week from Sunday, it may be his last television game. Amazon is backing up a Brinks truck to snag him for their NFL package.
- Hue Jackson is claiming the owner of the Cleveland Browns, Jimmy Haslam was actually happier when the team was losing. (Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!) The team went 5-11. That's coming out in support of the Flores lawsuit announced yesterday, part of which being that the owner of the Dolphins offered Flores a $100,000 bonus for each 2019 loss. So "Tank For Tua" was, in fact, a real and sanctioned-from-the-top movement for the Dolphins.
- Jackson also claims a bonus for each loss of "a good number", "trust me", was offered to him as well when he was coach of the Browns and only won three out of forty games.
- Flores believes his January 10th firing by the Dolphins was, at least in part, because he did not want to "Tank For Tua".
- I'm getting a backlog of posts together, a couple of them timely... May be quite a few today if I can get past this "Fuck Everybody" kick I'm on right now.
- Vince McMahon has fired his son, Shane. It appears the firing was as a result of confusion regarding the position of international recording star Bad Bunny in the 2022 Royal Rumble. (Before you scoff, recall Bad Bunny all but starred in a tag team match at the last Wrestlemania, showing himself far more than competent during the match.)
- There has been an incident in the new season of the massive FOX hit The Masked Singer. The first contestant eliminated this season: Trump confidant Rudy Giuliani -- causing at least two of the judges to storm off in protest!!! The series (and there may be more such controversial surprises: The series theme this year is "The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly") will not begin airing until after the Beijing Olympics.
The truth is not what actually happened. It's what you can ENFORCE happened. It's ALL enforcement.
