- We lost the legend Tony Bennett on Friday. He did live a full life -- he was 96.
- Faith Kipyegon of Kenya did the unthinkable Friday in Monaco. Four years after Sifan Hassan incrementally broke the world record in the women's mile run down to 4:12.33, Kipyegon slashed nearly SIX SECONDS off that record to run 4:07.64.
- The last time the women's mile record was taken that far down was in 1973!
- Given consistent pace, which we know does not happen, if you ran Hassan's WR vs. Kipyegon's, Kipyegon wins by THIRTY METERS.
- And here's even a bigger story!
- 4:12.33 to 4:07.64 -- Monaco, July 21, 2023, mile
- Hassan broke a world record which had been set a quarter-century before.
- 3:50.07 to 3:49.11 -- Florence, Italy, June 2, 2023, 1500 meters
- Record was held by Ethiopia's Genzebe Dibaba, and held it for just short of eight years.
- 14:06.62 to 14:05.20 -- Paris, June 9, 2023, 5000 meters
- That record was held by Ethiopia's Letensebet Gibbey, she held it over three years, after breaking a countrywoman's record which had stood for twelve!
- Kipyegon is the first human being, male or female, to break all three world records at mile, 1500, and 5000 in the same year. She actually did it in just 50 days.
- And she also now, in fact, is the first woman in history to hold all three world records at the same time.
- You would have to go back to 1945 and Gunder Haag of Sweden for the last time a man held all three world records at the same time.
- A rap video with explicit lyrics has terminated football activities at Florida A&M University. The rapper was able to access the team's locker room and a number of licensed materials, and had a number of players in the video as well. The team has been temporarily suspended, pending a preseason investigation.
- Leonardo Messi scored a free kick goal from about 25 meters to win the first match he played for Miami FC in the Leagues Cup group phase over a Mexican side...
- And many people state the stoppage-time goal was scripted.
The truth is not what actually happened. It's what you can ENFORCE happened. It's ALL enforcement.
