- For the second time in four events, Richard Seymour, the former NFL player, went deep in the $10,000 main event of the World Series of Poker. He got bad-beat on a superior pair of hole cards today to finish in the top 600 and win a little over $50,000.
- Nate Silver, formerly of 538, finished 87th, $92,600 -- when three players had pairs leading to the flop and he ended up with the lower set when he and the one above him got to three of a kind.
- The field is a record of over 10,000 people who either won satellite tournaments or paid a $10,000 entry fee.
- The winner will win a record $12.1 million as a result. They actually have barely beaten the height of the online poker scene back a decade ago with this field.
- By the end of tomorrow, the field is winnowed to the final table of nine. The champion is crowned Sunday.
- Add the baseball coach to the growing problems of the Northwestern hazing investigation. He's been fired too, same reason as the football coach.
- Six days now into the July sumo tournament in Japan.
- Nishikigi is the only 6-0 wrestler out there. Six follow him at 5-1.

- Hoshoryu is one of the six at 5-1.
- Daieisho lost to Komusubi Kotonowaka, and is 4-2.
- Wakamotoharu is also 4-2.
- Kirishima is trying to accumulate wins through his injury. He's 2-4, needing 8 to prevent kadoban. The other Ozeki and the Yokozuna are both out already with injury.
- Brian Tuohy's appeal to the US government for records pertaining to the fixed 1972 Men's Olympic Basketball debacle has been denied -- a two-year process.
