- Cleveland Browns: Odell Beckham Jr.: $14,037 for an altercation with...
- Baltimore Ravens: Marion Humphrey, who was fined the same amount.
The altercation included a possible chokehold by Humphrey on OBJ. This is the third time in four weeks the league has at least spoken to Beckham (his watch in Week 1, his tinted visor in Week 2).
Hey, NFL, according to Spotrac, that's Beckham's TENTH fine, along with a suspension.
So that's his eleventh transgression with the league.
- Dec. 2014: $10,000 for fight involvement.
- Jan. 2015: $11,025 for unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Oct. 2015: $8,700 for several incidents in a game against Buffalo.
- Dec. 2015: Suspended one game as part of his continuing feud with Josh Norman.
- Sept. 2016: $12,154 for a celebration foul.
- The next week: $36,000 for a late hit and a blindside block in the same game.
- Two weeks after that: $24,309 for repeat offender unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Dec. 2016: $12,154 for profanity against an official
- Two weeks later: A doubled fine of $18,231 for illegal cleats with a message.
- Sept. 2017: $12,154 for celebration, should've been doubled.
- And this one.
According to the NFL's fine schedule, Beckham, because numbers 1 and 3 on this list, should have been fined over $70,000 for the Week 4 fight. The Browns are almost certain, in record time, to hit dollar-for-dollar territory, where every fine they suffer for the rest of the year will have to be matched.
Also:
- Cleveland Browns: JC Tretter gets repeat offender status for involvement in the fight, and is fined $14,037 for it.
- Baltimore Ravens: $7,017 for entering the fight.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Donovan Smith: $28,075 for a blindside block.
- Oakland Raiders: There was a second helmet-to-helmet hit in the same game by Vontaze Burfict. His suspension will be at least one game -- his appeal will be heard next Tuesday. The second helmet hit is to be used against him in the appeal. (Pro Football Talk)
- Denver Broncos: Bradley Chubb: $21,056 for roughing the passer.
- Philadelphia Eagles: Derek Barnett: $28,075 for a late hit which probably should've gotten a suspension. (The first of two cart-off jobs in that game.)
- Washington Redskins: Josh Norman: $10,527 for a face mask.
That HIS ELEVENTH...
- Nov. 2014: $8,268 for fighting
- Two Weeks Later: $11,000 or so (and that probably implies Repeat Offender) for a uniform violation.
- Oct. 2015: $8,681 for a celebration foul
- Nov. 2015: $5,787 for illegal cleats
- Dec. 2015: $26,044 for the aforementioned altercations with Odell Beckham
- Sept. 2016: $48.620 for unnecessary roughness (probably with OBJ again)
- The next week: $10,000 for a celebration foul
- A month after that: $25,000 for railing on the refs
- Nov. 2017: $36,464 for a horse-collar repeat offender
- Dec. 2018: $10,026 for a fight against Tennessee
- And this one
Goodell, it doesn't work. None of it. You have THREE CANDIDATES for league expulsion this week, and you only took care of one of the problems!
- Dallas Cowboys: DeMarcus Lawrence: $21,056 for a low hit roughing the passer call. TWO-TIME LOSER this season.
- Denver Broncos: Von Miller: Also $21,056, also for roughing the passer
- Green Bay Packers: Kenny Clark: $21,056 for a late hit/roughing the passer
- Philadelphia Eagles: Rudy Ford: $28,075 for unnecessary roughness
Philadelphia Eagles: Zach Ertz: $28,075 for unnecessary roughnessWon his appeal.- Pittsburgh Steelers: The injured Ben Roethlesberger get fined $5,000 for wearing an Apple Watch on the sidelines.
Could probably be more to come.
As of right now, last year after Wk 4, there were four teams un-fined. This year, as of this part of Week 4, there are five. (Indianapolis, the Giants, Chicago, Arizona, and the Chargers, if I'm reading the chart correctly) And only Chicago, Arizona, and the Chargers, of the five, did not receive a Club Remittance fine for multiple suspensions.
The current total of on-field fines for the year is over $1,530,000. Last year: About $1,067,000. So fines are up SIGNIFICANTLY (even taking the $50,000 allotment for Burfict out, it's still about a $410,000 increase year-over-year (almost 40%)). Need any more clue why scoring is down?
