• And, as all too often happens, the defeat of the ultrachamp has resulted in another champion's defeat, as Rhone Talsma was one and done as champion on Jeopardy!   
• Verbal altercation in Philadelphia with the Lakers' Carmello Anthony over about four or five possessions finally had Anthony approach the fans, but the fans were ejected before anything else happened.
• Riding has been dropped from the Olympic Modern Pentathlon as a result of the abuse situation at the Tokyo Games.  Three or four replacements are being sought, and one of them will be trialed at the World Cup in Russia in March.
• Following the crowd crush which killed at least eight in an African Cup of Nations match, two quarterfinals and a semifinal have been moved to venues believed more robust to prevent a repeat of said event.
• In a continued move to apparently make Super Bowl LVI a BLM event, three of the officiating crew are African-American.  Deadspin points out, however, that, as of today, there is only ONE African-American head coach in the League.
