Day 625

  • Incident at the end of the Washington Football Team game last Sunday.  When quarterback Jalen Hurts entered back into the tunnel, fans of his Eagles tried to press for him -- and collapsed at least one railing adjacent to that tunnel.
  • Those fans are pissed that no one from FedEx Field seemed to give a shit.  This is 100 MPH heading straight for a lawsuit.
  • All I have to say about the Deadspin article regarding Antonio Brown and probably Rapistburger as well:  How any woman can be a fan of the NFL after what Ray Rice did, and then Stepforded/Stockholmed his wife into silence, is beyond me.
  • Bud Dupree of the Titans got into a physical incident in a Walgreens in Nashville Sunday night -- he's charged with misdemeanor assault.
  • Nate Hobbs of the Raiders was nailed for a DUI early Monday after falling asleep drunk behind the wheel in Las Vegas.
  • How can you be so fucking STUPID as to give the NFL an excuse to shitcan your team's ass when you are either in the playoffs or about to be in Week 18?
  • History continuing for Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider:  24 wins (after Monday), almost $900,000 now.  Probably staring a million in the face some point Thursday or Friday.
  • On the bad news front:  Schneider revealed she was robbed over the weekend.   Lost at least her ID and phone in the robbery.
  • The Hall of Fame tracker is appearing to indicate another blank class for the BBWAA, ending the candidacies of Barroid Bonds and Roidger Clemens.  Those two and Big Roidi Ortiz (who was in the original "secret group" of positives) appear to be the three closest.
  • COVID has cost CES 2022 at least one day, a number of top-profile attendees, and, if I'm reading some of the morbid curiosity I had last week, probably some of the Las Vegas hotel traffic as well!
  • Three more anti-vaxxers bite the dust due to COVID.  The deputy DA of Orange County, California Kelly Ernby, and the famed French Bogdanoff Twins -- all vaccine skeptics, all gone due to COVID.
  • Conor McDavid is COVID-positive.
  • The CFP people looking at expansion claim they want to look at the format, not the fact that most of the semifinals in the eight years have been completely lopsided.
  • Over 3,000 US schools have closed today due to COVID concerns.
  • And Tuesday makes win #25 for Ms. Schneider.  Andy Saunders notes she now has the fifth most correct answers in the history of the program, and is about to pass Brad Rutter in that regard.  $918,000 means an average win of $36,720 now.  Meaning, on average, it's a million on Fridau.
  • Saunders' prediction algorithms have Schneider's streak projected to hit 35 -- which would make her the #2 all-time all-shows winning woman with a total of about $1.38 million.
