And that pretty much should do it for CFP Expansion, if not for the CFP itself!!

Any hope the Group of 5 had of being relevant in top-division college football went out the door when a fairly inconsistent Alabama side ran Cincinnati off the field in Texas yesterday.

But then Michigan outdid them and really got run off the field in Miami.

So, it's the only two teams that mattered in August, mattered in October, and mattered in December.

And, oh, guess what?  They're both from the SEC -- the only conference that matters, THE Major League of College Football.

And I really wish the SEC would actually do that tag line.

But the fact is:  What need is there of even having a playoff when there's only one relevant conference?

The seventh consecutive year at least one SEC team is in the Final -- the second time BOTH SEC teams are in the Final, and the last one was Georgia-Alabama as well.

Why are we looking at expanding a playoff in which there is no point that the playoff takes place?

Until there is a major sea change in college football, you can just crown the SEC Champion the National Champion and be done with it...

We'll see if Alabama's upset of Georgia a month ago holds.
