April 4, 2023 News and Notes

  • Protestors on both sides have gathered outside the courthouse in New York City.
  • There have already been several clashes.
  • The news is reporting this will not be a long process today, and the Trump lawyers are going to try to get the charges dismissed.  As a former NYC defendant, I stress:  THIS IS NORMAL -- BOTH OF THESE THINGS.  Happens hundreds of times a day in the NYC courts (and nationwide as well).  Don't fall for overdramaticism on the news here.
Outside of Trump-dom:
  • Well, this first one -- not quite.  The Raw after Wrestlemania 39 was a complete fraud and joke, and has re-established that Vince McMahon IS back in charge of creative at WWE.  The end saw a 10-minute beatdown and destruction of AEW turncoat Cody Rhodes at the hands of former UFC World Champion Brock Lesnar.  ... who, with the Endeavor sale, now has to be the front-runner to be the man to finally take the belts off Roman.
  • Sad note from pro wrestling last night:  Bushwhacker Butch (real name Bob Miller), the former brutal Sheepherder who was recast as a comedy tag-team wrestler of great renown in the WWE, died last night.  He was 78.
  • Congratulations to the UConn men and LSU women, who had dominant wins in winning the respective NCAA basketball championships over the weekend.
