April 20, 2023 News and Notes

  • It's that time again on Second Life.
  • It's the annual 17-day Fantasy Faire to raise money for the Relay For Life on Second Life, a Fantasy emporium of shops and events, starting (about) noon today -- if the last stragglers can be arsed to get their shops set up in time and the sims work!!!
  • Max Scherzer is facing a 10-game suspension for being ejected from Wednesday's game against the Dodgers -- washed his hands upon order and failed a second substance check the next inning.  This is why they needed to toss German in the previous game -- you've now got a real problem...
  • And it's official:  He's been suspended the ten games.
  • Earlier this week, Boston beat the Angels 2-1 in a game...
  • ... which took 1 hour and 57 minutes to finish.
  • Chris Paul finally got a boogieman off his back.  In his 15th playoff game officiated by Scott Foster, Paul finally won one of them, as Phoenix beat the Clippers 123-109.
  • With a two-game early lead in the NL West, the Arizona Diamondbacks have gotten rid of their least effective starting pitcher so far:  They DFA'd Madison Bumgartner.
  • The A's have finally thrown in the towel on Oakland -- they'll enter an agreement to buy land for a stadium in Las Vegas.
  • The House of Representatives, per party lines (so this is COMPLETELY DOA in the Senate), passed a nationwide ban on transgender school athletes.
    • I've done a number of articles on how this "fairness" argument dies a quick death when held up to the truth.  They want to murder every transgender person in this country because they want one gender to rape and pillage the other, and people wanting to live their own lives in peace is a completely foreign concept to them.
    • Remember, this is the same House GOP who had Rep. Magic The Gathering yesterday bleating that one of her colleagues was fucking a Chinese spy!
    • One North Carolina bigot even tried to invoke Muhammad Ali in this.  Forgetting that, in many circles, a lot of people didn't want him to fight at all.  As a Black, as a Black Muslim, and then as a conscientious objector to the Vietnam draft!!!
