April 25, 2023 News and Notes

  • In his world, we call this "Saturday".  Nate Diaz has an arrest warrant in New Orleans, as he felt the need, after a fighting card in the city, to go fight himself outside as part of a brawl.
  • No further firings on the media end as of the end of Monday night.
    • But am I the only one to see the connections between the firings of the NBCUniversal CEO, Carlson, and Lemon -- and that they all (at least partially -- it appears Lemon's has even more than this!) have to do with sexual harassment and misogyny allegations?
    • But one on Tuesday so far:  Disney layoffs have claimed Nate Silver, and he's also out at the blog he made famous, 538.
  • Perils of the Internet...  A previously banned idiot has been waging World War III on Second Life's Fantasy Faire, threatening the lives of just about everybody within reach on Day Five.
    • The Faire continues unabated, however:  Almost $26,500 through the first weekend.  Two weeks to go.
  • More history for the Rays.  14-0 at home -- best home start to a season in the Modern Era.
    • Oakland is now 5-18, 11-10 extra-inning winners in Anaheim.
  • Daylight has come, and he has gone home...  Harry Belafonte passed after a long life well-lived.  He was 96.
