Day 290

  • Add Phil Niekro to the In Memoriam in 2020 list.
  • Jacksonville has "won" the #1 draft pick, after four wide receivers going COVID contact-testing in Cleveland gave the Jets a second straight win.
  • 510 points this week through the early games.  51 average, 11,602 for the season with six games to go in the week and 22 in the year.  The NFL is now just 360 points away from the record.  Probably won't get it this week, but be very early in Week 17.
  • Two major offensive pieces were injured and out of the LA Clippers home opener today.  As partially a result, the Dallas Mavericks broke an NBA record today with a FIFTY POINT halftime margin.  77-27.  They won 124-73.
  • And then the four late games on Sunday went 19-16. 20-13, 20-9, and 37-17 to knock the average down.
  • With Green Bay-Tennessee and New England-Buffalo left, the NFL is now at 11,753 points for the year -- 209 away from the record.  It now definitely is next week.
  • The best they can do next week for maximum drama for the flex game is Washington vs. Philadelphia, since Washington has the best chance to win the NFC Least.
