Day 31...

  • ESPN has the semis and finals of the NBA 2K Tournament tonight.  Two Suns and two Clippers are left.
  • And Devin Booker has defeated Deandre Ayton two games to none to win the championship of the ESPN NBA 2K tournament.  Booker wins a $100,000 charity donation from 2K, the NBA, and the NBPA to the charity of his choice.
  • Chris Jericho is holding his third "Saturday Night Special" tonight on Facebook.  Here's him posting the second one to his YouTube account:

  • There IS a current estimated relaunch date of the NBA, at least according to ESPN.  They're looking at June 14th.  Probably would mean fanless, almost certainly would mean some degree of training camp by Memorial Day, and a playoffs into August.
  • NFL and college football are still planning a go as scheduled -- and it's probably that which may well determine whether any fabric of this society survives the summer at all...
  • Baseball and hockey are both currently estimated to start right about the same week the NBA relaunches, mid-June.  Good luck, you will need it.  As I said, however, I do believe the very survival of at least hockey probably depends on it!
  • The current schedule literally runs the US Open tennis tournament (as scheduled) back to back with the French Open.  Gee, you think this might be one reason tennis authorities are unhappy with the French?
  • Sounds like most of the rest of it is late May into June.  Probably meaning some degree of economic relaunch within a month.  But if Olbermann is right and these projections are wrong...
  • Uh oh for WWE... An on-screen non-roster talent has tested positive for the coronavirus. It was probably due to meeting with some friends in the healthcare industry in late March, after most of the pre-Mania stuff was taped. The one real question is whether this person (referee, announcer, etc.) had any contact with the roster after this meeting and before the positive test. That could determine whether WWE goes onward at this point -- they're trying to skirt regulations as best they can to continue Raw and Smackdown, believing mass-taping several weeks in advance might be in violation of their TV contracts with FOX and USA.
  • It appears that the talent has successfully recovered and been clear of the virus. The above question still stands.
  • And in a sign the shit might still be hitting the fan -- word today that Boston University may be putting plans in place to have no FALL SEMESTER either.  People better start confronting the very real chance the entire on-site educational system may no longer be supportable -- financially, if by no other means of canning it.
  • Olbermann's back after a one-night allergy absence:
