You are not going to recognize this country in two weeks at the rate things are going with this coronavirus.

  • San Francisco has begun the call to cancel all large-scale gatherings in the city for at least the next two weeks.  The other Bay Area counties have all followed suit.
  • It appears the NBA is about to become the first major sports league to take it's games to "behind closed doors" with no fans.  They have instructed the teams to come up with appropriate plans for such an event.
  • And why do I say that will probably happen once those plans are in effect?  Try the cancellation of SXSW...
  • Try the complete cessation of all in-person classes for the Winter Quarter at Stanford.  (Two weeks remain in said quarter.)
  • Same for the University of Washington (Also two weeks remain)
  • The President of France has said the country cannot stop coronavirus in any event.
  • Amtrak has now cancelled at least three non-stop Acela routes due to coronavirus knocking out demand effective Tuesday, all the way through the end of May.  That's DC to New York.
Stay tuned.
