Day 513

  • WWE snuck 12 more NXT releases into a late-Friday night news dump.  Sean Ross Sapp notes that this now bring the number of COVID-era WWE cuts to over one hundred!
  • CONMEBOL is going to hold two sets of three matchdays for the fall sessions of the World Cup qualifiers, instead of three sets of two.
  • Disney has been forced to settle a lawsuit with actor and former Arena Football player Darryl Hammond, who died recently, due to Hammond's working as an extra on the remake of The Longest Yard.  CTE.
  • Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Kirk Cousins is officially anti-vax and says he will submit himself to the daily testing for COVID and other protocols, rather than take the vaccination.  A hospital in Cousins' hometown of Eagan, Michigan has cut ties with the quarterback, as a result.
  • To the great annoyance of some Jeopardy! fans, Matt Amodio and his quirks have become the tenth ultra-champion in the history of the show.  13 wins, $430,200.  In the record books, he is now 5th in regular-season winnings and sixth in number of wins.
  • One week remains in the guest-host season, with Joe Buck.  And then...  That almost-certainly is going to require it's own post...
  • Josh Allen of the Bills has just gotten an extension which makes him even higher-paid than Patrick Mahomes.  Let THAT process...
  • Carl Nassib has reported "nothing but love" for his announcement as the first publicly out in-NFL player.  Given ESPN and other associated shitheads, I forecast the end of that real damn good and quick.  Isn't that right, Michael Sam???
  • Peter Marshall has lost his son to COVID-19, and demands all get vaccinated.
  • Reba McIntyre got a breakthrough case of COVID.
  • And another shooting near an MLB stadium -- Coors Field this time.  At least one fatality.
