Day 512

  • After news reports stating that the 70% was reached a month late, today comes word from the White House that only half the people in America are currently fully vaccinated.  And I don't see that number going up anytime soon...
  • Today, during the day, is the more regular running of The Ocho, the day of offbeat sports like pinball, cornhole, etc. on ESPN2, inspired by the movie Dodgeball and it's mythical "ESPN8".  Though, if you do count it up, there are getting to be eight or so ESPNs.  Main, 2, 3 (online), Classic, Deportes, News...  That's at least six.
  • Alex Karras is finally going to be enshrined in Canton this weekend.  Karras was banned from the NFL for all of 1963 for association with gamblers.  (The same day Paul Hornung of the Packers was.)  It is kind of ironic that it took until co-sponsorships with gambling firms and Daily Fantasy and the nationwide legalization of sports gambling to finally get the league to accept Karras in.  Sports Illustrated made that observation.
  • Andohbytheway, Pittsburgh16Dallas6lastnightinCanton...  Nooneshouldcare.
  • There is RUMOR, according to a Sports Illustrated podcast, that bigoted and misogynist Barstool Sports is in talks to snag a "major sport" for broadcast.
  • Trouble in New York Giants camp -- just this week alone, three New York Giants have signed retirement papers from the National Football League.
  • Oakland A's:  Ramon Laureano, 80-game suspension for PEDs, meaning he's out til mid-May next year.
